Root Touch-Up Semi-Permanent Hair Color Blending Gel, 4 Dark Brown, Pack of 2

I'm a natural redhead (auburn) and I've started graying over the recent years. I've been dying my hair with box dye and because my hair grows fast, dying my hair had become a monthly ritual. Dying my hair every 3-4 weeks isn't healthy for it and I've been looking for ways to extend my color. I was very pleased to find this. I've tried sprays, powders and semi permanent dye with varying degrees of success and this is definitely the best. Because this was a cheaper option and on sale, I had low expectations for it do so so didn't take a before picture unfortunately. I decided to take pictures once I saw how rich the color was. I put it on about a 1/3 inch of regrowth with less than 40% gray. I left it on about thirty minutes and rinsed it with lukewarm water. It rinsed out easy and when it dried, it was exactly my color. I only did the crown of my head and my hairline and doing that, I think I could get 2-3 applications out of the tube. I would recommend a glove to let you distribute the dye with your fingers instead of the brush because using the brush alone, you're going to use much more product than you need to. I applied it to clean damp hair, not soaking wet. the formula is thick but easily spreadable. It comes out the tube easily so watch how hard you squeeze. It doesn't drip and washes off skin easily (though it may stain your nails so wear gloves). No need to apply heat or wrap your hair in a cap. Also, there's no hair dye smell. I don't know if it will last 6-10 washes like the box says but even if I only get 3-4 washes, I've gotten my money's worth.

Absolutely TERRIBLE. Either I got a bad batch or this stuff just simply doesn't work. I followed the directions exactly and it did not cover my grays whatsoever. Tried multiple times. Waste of money and time!!

This product is the best. It is fast & easy to use. No mess, no drips, no wasted dye, no mixing, no bowl, no waiting 45 minutes. I love this product. My roots just blended right in with my natural hair color after using this product. When I have used other root touch-ups I always use dark brown because my hair is dark brown and with other products it always comes out too dark but this product blended right in. I love it !

I love this product but I use it with 10% developer on freshly washed/clarified hair. Also my hair is fairly porous and just soaks up product unlike less porous hair, which I believe makes a big difference in how this products effectiveness varies from person to person. After washing hair, towel drying, and deep conditioning the ends, I mix the the Clairol Root Touch-Up with 10% developer from the beauty supply store in a mixing bowl in a 1:1 ratio. Then apply in sections to the roots with a hair dye application brush. Let that sit 10 minutes (it already sat on some parts 10+ minutes, due to application time). Then comb the color down to mid shaft and wait 10 minutes more. Rinse very well (rinse your shower too!) then condition. Not a perfect method but the cream is easier to apply than thinner dye mixes, and I'm using the mildest developer which hopefully will help maintain hair health over time. I used to use it without the developer too, and that was good for a while. Using this on clean hair helps a lot.

This is pretty great! The bottle is designed for multiple applications. My grey is just starting and mostly at my hairline. Especially at the temples. It matches my (medium brown) hair color well enough. The small, new greys made my hairline look broken and this helps achieve a fuller look. It's FAR superior to the spray powders. Those were always messy and transferred to the scalp for an unnatural look, plus washed right out in the shower or left a smudge on the pillow. I've washed my hair at least 5 times so far and have done 2 deep conditioning treatments and the color is still holding strong. I wash my hair every 2 or 3 days, so each application will last a few weeks. I definitely recommend it for light, precision coverage!

I gave this product three stars for ease of use and color match. It DOES NOT COVER GRAY whatsoever! I tried it with damp hair (per the instructions), dry hair, and even let the color process longer than the stated instructions. The color is beautiful, but washes out after one time.

It works how it’s supposed. I didn’t have any problem with the product. Just read the directions/instructions and follow them and you should good.

Does not work. Don’t waste your money. Not a single strand of gray hair was covered.

Have to try it and leave for at least 30 mins hoping to get better coverage. The applicator brush is great and the tube can be used twice, coverage wise is not great but will give it another try and revise again, possibly with black color as I got the dark brown and is not enough for black hair

Hopeful that is an easier touch up on root. However, you need to hold it upright otherwise the cream will keep flowing out. Its like the usual permanent colour cream but the effects were below expectations. After putting for 20mins or more, the colour didn't stay. I didn't use shampoo to wash just water. But guess it was washed off and hair still remains gray. Waste of time.
