Modern Bargello: How to stitch 15 colourful projects

Beautiful book! Exactly what I was looking for to get started I. A new type of needlepoint.

This book has a lot of nice bargello patterns. Instructions are very detailed and helpful for learning to stitch the patterns. I look forward to using the pattern ideas to make my own creations.

You get a number of starter bargello patterns, but then the author actually goes on to show you how to stitch together a whole pillow, or decorative box, or bangle! Very cool to get inspired to create things other than just flat tapestry wall hangings (which are cool but man I want to make a pillow now). The author also explores tons of variations of materials, from chunky yarn to pearl cotton to bizarre polyester yarn, which gives a really striking, synthetic, candied effect, which makes bargello look not just modern but downright futuristic! This one truly expanded the world of possible bargello for me, and I look forward to making some rad pillows!

So far I have only managed to read part of this book, but I am finding some good advice in it and the pictures are lovely and colourful with great tips about how altering a colour or two can make such a difference. Would highly recommend.

This is a helpful and colourful book with lots of great ideas for Bargello stitching. It has patterns for 15 very varied projects using cotton canvas and plastic canvas and gives advice on colour selection and types of yarn. Great for a beginner.
