MRT Breath Controller & YAMAHA Keyboards Compatibility
The MRT will work great depending on the generation of Yamaha keyboard you are trying to match it with. There is an online tutorial on YouTube that shows the MRT to be a Plug and Play unit with a Yamaha MOXF6, (I believe). However, if you're using the previous generation of Yamaha keyboard(s), you'll need to make some Voice selection programming changes. (This generation of keyboards is still being sold as a current model and is not "old technology"; i.e. models that use the Motif processing engine, like S90/70XS.) I also found that after saving the programming changes and then selecting/or assigning the Voice to a performance, the MRT did not work until it received a quick breath prior to actually using it in a song. (This resets the volume to 0 so you can have the controller make volume changes. Without the reset breath, the performance (voice) selection will be at full volume and on all of the time.) After the reset breath, the MRT functions as you expect it to. This may sound convoluted and too much trouble, but really isn't. To recap, ON A YAMAHA keyboard, 1. Select a voice and make the programming changes and save as a Performance or Favorite. 2. Select your new performance and make a quick (re-set) breath into the controller. 3. At any point you want to play the new voice/performance during your song, breath into the controller mouth-piece and you will hear the voice you've selected being played with all of the nuance that MRT can offer. I contacted Yamaha support to learn how to make these changes in programming on my particular model of Yamaha. Don't be afraid of the MRT if you do not have a Korg brand keyboard. It works perfectly with Yamaha.

What I like is that it connects directly to you keyboard and ...
Works well with my Yamaha MOXF8 synthesizer. I've tried it with brass (trumpet and trombone), woodwinds (sax mainly), and strings. What I like is that it connects directly to you keyboard and does not need to be intricately set up with your DAW on your computer. That said, it is basically a volume controller synced to your breath and does not allow for modulation based upon your bite on the mouthpiece, but if you've got a modulation wheel on your keyboard you can insert great inflections into your playing. What I've found out is that I run out of breath sometimes. It makes you appreciate brass and wind players!

Amazing! Super cool breath controller! ππΆπΆπΆ
It perfectly works fine with my Yamaha MOX 8 synthesizer. I even didn't need to set up when I connected it with MIDI cable and USB cable and I could play like a horn player! I'm really happy to purchase this because it's way more natural and sensitive than volume pedal that I've used for dynamic expression and it can be used for strings and pads too. You can also change amount of pressure on breath mouth piece if you turn little bit. Headset is little bit tight to me, so I just took down left side under my ears. Thanks for making thus great controller!

I expected much more
So far I am not very impressed and I am disappointed that I did not wait and get the Tec controller instead. The design is lacking in some very basic ways. For example, you have to plug in a mini stereo cable (not supplied) and disconnect the unit from the USB power any time you want to change its configuration. This is can really stifle a creative workflow. Why on earth could they not have written a utility to facilitate adjusting the response curve and the controller configuration? The headset is quite uncomfortable. Why cheap wood and no padding. Perhaps if you have an abundance of hair it may be fine. However, being follically challenged the headset is hard and uncomfortable.I have found the sensitivity to be lacking as well. Perhaps I have not configured the unit properly but it seems I have to blow much harder than I would expect. This makes it very difficult to add the subtle expressions I was hoping to embellish my musical phrases with. The included docs are skimpy and there does not seem to be the resources on the Internet that I had hoped would provide specific guidance on the mrt.The unit itself seems reasonably well made but the controls are totally misleading in terms of what they do compared to what the knob labels would suggest.

Stellar product!
I love this unit! It plugs in directly to a MOTU Midi Express and sends the additional breath controller information seamlessly alongside my Yamaha Motif ES8. Every virtual instrument responds differently, so having the ability to alter the gain and offset to find the "sweet spot" is exactly what is needed. There is no such thing as one size fits all. I am using this with the Sample Modeling woodwinds and brass and could not be happier with the results. Great customer support and great product. I am a professional composer and use this item daily. If you need a breath controller, look no further.

Not so hot
Very difficult to set-up. It works but not easy to install and use as it is expected to.

Mrtaudio breath controller V2 works well with Roland Juno DS61
It took me a couple of tries to figure out that the MRTaudio breath controller itself takes a bit of programming. But once that was accomplished, it was "plug n' play" with my Roland Juno DS61. I'm a former wind player and I love combining that possibility with all the possibilities of a keyboard synth and the MRT works great.
