Large Weatherproof Hollow Log Hideout for Rabbits, Pets & Rescue Animals

The media could not be loaded. We use this log at our museum for multiple species- woodchuck, opossum, otters and rabbits! It is sturdy and can be disinfected easily. It looks natural in animal habitats and is great as a hide away or even as a natural looking planter. You will not be able to buy just one!

As I was placing it and putting branches around it (so the chickens wouldn't bother him), he was watching. I walked away and he went straight for it. I think he's grateful! Hefner is happy and so am I!

I haven't actually used this log as of yet, it is meant as a hidey-hole for a pet. However, the log does have some weight to it as I lifted it out of its box. Although not exactly light I would still recommend you brace the log if it is used outdoors. In my quick examination I noted that the log does not have a flat side, which is not necessarily a bad thing, however if not braced a strong enough wind could move the log even if it wasn't on an incline. From a distance the log can look like a true tree log especially if hidden amongst real plants. The log does certainly seem to be well constructed and should last for years. I can strongly recommend this product, if you can afford the sticker shock, but you do seem to get your money's worth for the product you receive.

This realistic but man-made hollow log is perfect for the wildlife I rehabilitate. They can climb on it, hide in the shallow end or forage for snacks in the deeper end. Filled with leaf litter, hay or pine straw, it gives them them multiple enrichment opportunities. Real hollow logs are not easy to find and are heavy, hard to sanitize, and often bring along unwanted insect guests. For opossums and other wildlife that will utilize logs as nesting and hiding spots after release, introducing them early on gives them an opportunity for learning as well as play. I love my Bushy Box and would recommend it to all in home rehabilitators and centers.
