HOP-141X Optical Pickup Lens Head for XBOX 360 DVD Drive

It was a perfect fit for the XBox 360 DVDrom unit. Not sure it works due to after installing it which was not that hard. I found that the spindal motor was also not working fully. The XBox belongs to a friend and I was trying to fix it as a favor, but after we talked today he is planning on buying another XBox 360. Just as well, this one is extremely old. I think it is a Gen 2. One side piece is missing. If I could have gotten the drive working it wouls have bought him a little more time but that is all.

I just installed this laser lens last night. It's working as it should. The only reason it's not 5-stars is because there was a little solder bridge that I had to remove in order to get the lens to work. I found all the info about installing it on YouTube fairly easily. Other than that, it was great to breathe some life back into my 360.

Bought 3 of these lasers. Installed 2 of the three in my machine. They were worse than the old laser. Yes, I unsoldered the solder bridge. The lasers I received had the potentiometers cranked up for higher output. (Common trick to get a little more life out of a used laser but will make it burn out quick due to increased current.) Also, the hole in the laser for the carriage screw to go into had threads in it. I have never seen a 'NEW' one with threads. This all leads me to believe that these are 'take-outs' that have been cranked up and sold as new. I still had one new laser from another dealer so I put that in. Unit works fine now. Don't even try to argue with me. I am an Electronics Engineer and I've been replacing lasers since Pioneer made Laser Disc players (early 90's) and used real laser tubes. Contacted Amazon, returned lasers and received a complete refund.

I bought this laser because mine just wasn't working. It wouldn't read my backup discs and had a horrible time reading the originals, but upon receiving my laser, a little cleaning and 10 minutes of my time, it's up and running splendidly!!!!!! Why only 1 star then? Well, I'd love to give the company a 5, but I ordered this item on the 16th with 1-3 day delivery. The laser wasn't shipped till the 20th and didn't arrive till the 25th, 9 days after purchase!!!!! Buy this laser if you need it, IT WORKS GREAT!!!!!!! Save your money and ship normally.

Fixed my problem! Works Great. Accidentally stripped the screw that holds it into place though. Had to get a different screw just a tad bigger and made it work. Never found the old screw :s...

Replaced old laser with this laser after unsuccessfully trying to change pot resistance. If you follow directions of intelligent people online, it will work for you too. Great price and XBOX 360 works great again.

I bought this to replace a dead laser in my Xbox 360 DVD drive. I had to pot tweak this as it was set much lower than I was comfortable with but it works perfectly.
