Great design but REALLY smells bad

I recently purchased this item for massage purposes and found it to be perfect in terms of functionality. However, the odour is quite unpleasant. Despite washing it with various solutions, the smell persists. Unfortunately, it's now relegated to a bag in my drawer, unused. It's a real disappointment.

Item is ideal for massage BUT the smell of the item is awful. I've washed it in multiple solutions but the smell remains and as such it's in a bag in a drawer and I don't use it. Such a shame.
