Handy little gadget
Perfect. Works a treat and comes with a nice led light for dark spaces. I used to identify live feed, isolate electricity at fuse box and re check. I always double check with a multi meter before commencing work.

Great tester for someone who is in the know
I received a similar voltage stick as this,CEF (UK)was the supplier, same circuitry etc, the unit is brilliant, with some knowledge, the unit shows on a bar or two ghost potential, mutual inductance etc, when on a live cable, like right next to the probe, it's red, for example on a three core flex, line, neutral and earth aka ground, the probe can be rotated around the circular flex and live can be located or neutral, even though it's very close to each other, used so many times it's simply practice to quickly test, so on a closely connected neutral and line it's child's play, The meter scale from yellow to red is really useful, as it's not a binary light up and sound OR not, relying very much on the tester to determine, but the accurate scale of (if memory serves) four yellow LEDs to two red leaves room for knowledge, intuition on experience, a quick rule of thumb, one or two yellow, ghost or residual or mutual/ inductance voltage, 3 or more yellow, neutral and finally one or two red, live, it varies one either way for type of circuit / equipment or situation, but the rule of thumb is like 95% spot on, I am a fluke, megger, metrowatt, kewtech, etc guy, but this voltage stick for a passive device is brilliant, the more you use it, then you just know how its nuances are, Invaluable and ability to create a higher resolution from the circuit dependent binary of live or not, sound and light up or not, just proves again, cost is no metric for quality or performance, Make sure if your meter is in reserve in a toolbox or in storage, REMOVE THE BATTERIES! batteries leak and knacker the meter, had a Klein pen voltage stick ruined by a leaking Duracell battery, fixed down to component level, but it's a non serviceable unit, so makes a mess getting into the gubbins,

Works on AC and DC
This thing works with both DC and AC electricity. I used it to fault find on a string of LED Christmas lights which were definitely DC.

Orange is single range
Great value for the price. Sensitivity is variable and only has three states - despite the apparent six segment level bar. Note the orange one is different to the black one with LCDs, and it has a single range - around 12v to 1000v. I prefer the LEDs. Reading reviews for the £20+ 'name' brands - Fluke, etc, they all seem to suffer some variability in sensitivity. Non-contact detection is always a variable feast.

Electrical test meter
The test meter is excellent and provides a good range of leads and a handy storage case

Feels cheap and inaccurate
Has a rather cheap feel to it probably worth half the price to be honest and the scale of voltage bleeps to infrequently for my liking especially when your near two live cables in their respective sheathing I wouldn’t like to put this anywhere near the max voltage even on a socket outlet at 230v it jumps all over the place , I use a much more accurate set of testers for live and dead tests so I think this will be set aside for a future use I only purchased this as a stop gap until I could get in the wholesale’s for a replacement kewtech I may even try the fluke tester , I think this tester should be around £4 at most

Very good product, works as described, very sensitive, like that it can be switched easily from 12V-1000V to 48V-1000V. Very audible sound and light indication. Will recommend. Price is also good.
