Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Search, Part 2

A Solid Middle Chapter
As a huge fan of this series, though admittedly not until after the series had nearly ended on TV, I want to love every bit of ancillary Avatar: The Last Airbender fiction. I got so hyped for the live action movie, and was so let down. I wanted mote Avatar, more GOOD Avatar, and eventually went searching for news from the creators of the cartoon. That's when I stumbled on the existence of the comics, and I knew I had to buy them. So I gathered up old Amazon gift cards to alleviate the strain on my wallet, and bought The Promise and the first two parts of The Search (part three was not published yet) all at once, and I am so glad that I did. The art is beautiful, and the story so immediately captures the tone and pace of the cartoon that before long it was like watching the show again, which was in turn like revisiting an old friend.Continuing where part one left off, this installment suffers a bit from the "middle installment syndrome" that is a necessary part of so many trilogies. It had a lot to set up, and did this effectively, but it didn't actually resolve anything. Also, while this isn't glaring enough that I would lower my score over it, I thought the foreshadowing for the big twist in the next installment (you'll see what I mean if you read these) was a slight bit too heavy-handed, as I caught on immediately. Of course this could just be something that I picked on for some inexplicable reason that no one else would, so this complaint might not even be valid. Either way, this comic is as much a must have for fans of the series as any of them are.

Amazing !!
These are great! Me and my family just finished watching Avatar The Last Airbender, so i was like "whats after that?" then i found out its these comics! I got the first one at a comic book shop, then the last two here on Amazon. They arrived perfectly intact without a single scratch as always! 10/10 Would recommend if you like ATLA!

Part 2 reveals more than you think!! (no spoilers, just hints)
OMG, LOVED this... and it's definitely just as surprising and shocking as Part 1 IF you read between the lines!! It explains a LOT. That said, many readers (and it seems many reviewers) haven't figured things out yet and will need Part 3 to do so.Gorgeous art and awesome storytelling as usual!! And absolutely true to the TV series. Must mention how much I loved seeing actual scenes from the series expanded on in this book. This IS the fourth season of A:TLA and required reading for any true fan! Most especially for all Zuko fans like me. Enjoy!

Amazing
I have been a fan of the Avatar ever since I was a kid and this book had an amazing story line on how Zuko found his mother. It shows how far Zuko has come as a person in regaining the fire nation's honor and how no matter what had happened between his father and him. I recommend anyone who loved Avatar as a kid or even as an adult when this first came out, to continue on with the story line after the 100 year war.

What is happening to Avatar?
I'll just say it: I am really disappointed in Legend of Korra. I hoped that these comics would bring back that love for Avatar, but... They're just not really doing it for me.Part 2 was worse than Part 1, for me. I'm really attached to Azula's character, but The Search is turning her into the one-dimensional villain her father was--when she was such a three-dimensional character in the show. Toph's out of the picture, and I miss her, but I assume she'll be back for Part 3? Or at least I can hope.I enjoyed seeing the flashbacks of Ursa and young!Zuko and Azula, but I couldn't really bring myself to feel bad for Ikem, or anything. Ozai and Ursa's dynamics were vaguely intriguing, but the Gaang was pretty lackluster to me.And Azula's over-played insanity is just grating on my nerves. I love crazy Azula, but this was just... too much of the same thing over and over. That aside, I still enjoy the art of these comics, and it arrived in wonderful condition. I'm not giving it a 5, because Azula and the Gaang were pretty disappointing (not as bad as Korra, but still), but I'm not giving it a 3, because I still enjoyed seeing Ursa and Ozai's past.*spoiler alert*I'm still convinced Zuko is actually Ozai and Ursa's son. It would throw off the entire plot if he wasn't, and that would actually make Azula the direct heir, which is the last thing this universe needs right now. Just puttin' that out there.

Because Avatar!
It is a solid story, continuing the adventures of the Aang Gang after they saved the world. The characters remain true to the series, and develop their relationships as they mature. This is a great companion read, almost like an appendix to the first three books, or as a prequel to Korea's story. A must read!

A great continuation to an already excellent series.
The Search Part 2 continues where the last installment ended. I won't spoil anything but I like where this series is going. The mystery is intriguing and Azula, with her being unpredictable, adds a subtle tension throughout the comic. Fans of the show should definitely pick this up and I can't wait for part 3, where one of the longest standing questions will be revealed. What happened to Zuko's mom?
