It's an okay book - needs more material tables
Pro tip: some universities have online access to CRC books in their full PDF format - free to their students. The book was okay, but I really expected more tables of materials given the topical content. There is a reasonable amount of information on all the subjects. Failure theory was a bit difficult to follow, and I would have liked it to go more in-depth - again, given that it's oriented towards FRP composites and has an entire (short) chapter on failure modes. Moreover, it would have been nice to see better case studies and also have answers and/or solutions to the chapter problems. It was a decent introductory book, but not sure if it's that informative for DIS (directed independent study).

Nice.
The text is ok. Not the best book I've ever had for a class, but far from the worst. Not the sort of thing you keep on the coffee table mind you. Unless Stephen Hawkins is coming over for tea.

Not good
As a student being assigned homework out of this book, I can say it is almost impossible to follow. There are no example problems anywhere in the book. The book references formula's in the homework problems that aren't referenced in the book anywhere at all. In the readings, it will define a formula but give no explanation on what the variables mean. As a person knowing nothing about composites and trying to learn, this book is horrible. It might be good for a graduate level class, but definitely not for an undergrad class.

I would have published my thesis without this book...
If it had not been for the 2nd and 3rd edition of this text, I definately would have had great trouble publishing my MS thesis. It is loaded with very insightful information concerning every aspect of Fiber-Reinforced Composites, from its constituents all the way to predicting its microstructural and macrostructural behavior. I highly recommend this book for any Materials Scientist that works with any kind of structure development.

it was ok
I payed to have the book expedited but it took longer to get to me than another book that I ordered with standard shipping. Then I got it and it had highlights in it and the binding plastic was kinda crummy. Other than that its fine and it was still cheaper than buying it at the book store on campus but was still about $70, so I expected a little more.

It is good reference book

One of the best books for understanding on composite materials ... Mechanics is not covered in detail but explanations are quite beautiful.

Very good book

The book is very informative and has a lot good info and cover different aspect. But some of the figures a not explained well, and there are mistakes in pictures and equation here and there. With the errors sorted, the book is awesome!

Stress calculations based on unidirectional lamina, not sufficient information on bidirectional ones
