Inspirational and Cute
FABULOUS movie!!! I showed it to my class last year as we were preparing for a field trip to a baseball game and I thought it would be cute.THEY LOVED it. I had never heard of it and it had came up in a search on google. So cute, so funny, and meaningful. This year we are doing an author study on Robert Burleigh. He wrote a great book based on Babe Ruth. I showed this as a treat on Friday afternoon for a little while. The kids loved it once again. They were laughing and asked if we could finish it.I then showed it to my 3 year old as a Friday Night Mommy and Son date night. We had popcorn and watched this. He loved it. He laughed and he loved the funny characters.

Everyone's Hero, great film
I am a kindergarten teacher. I had not heard about this movie (my own kids have grown up so I'm not current on movies). I found this title by looking through this website [...]. It even comes with a curriculum. I matched that up with a baseball player craft and writing response. We watched it over and over. I wanted my children to get a basic idea about the time of the depression, and baseball history, but most of all learn the qualities of perserverance and positive character traits. This movie is awesome! A tean year old boy must make a journey in more than one sense.. to do the right thing. He learns a lot along his journey. I will buy a copy and we will watch it every year! The Diaz Ducklings in Georgia

A sweet, family-friendly (clean) movie
It's not difficult to understand why this one wasn't big at the box office - it's not the typical polished, splashy, toilet-humored cartoon that children are accustomed to these days! If you're looking for something in that vein, you'll want to look elsewhere. If you're looking for a clean, family-friendly cartoon, however, this one should be right up your alley.I won't repeat the other reviews and give a run-down of the plot - others have done a wonderful job already. I will tell you that our whole family sat down last night (dad, mom and four children ages 12, 8, 2 and newborn) and watched the whole thing, start to finish. That doesn't happen very often! There were two or three unnecessarily foolish moments (what we'd call toilet humor) but I don't recall any sexual double entendres or moments that made me squirm. I can't say that for many of today's movies. The parents have a loving relationship, dad and mom work hard (he at the ballpark, she in the home) and the son reacts kindly to neighborhood bullies and has a great love for his parents. He's not a smart mouth, dad's not a dolt and mom's not a self-centered ding-dong. How refreshing! We liked it and, if you're in the market for a kind-hearted (and yes, predictable) movie for the family, you might, too.Recommended!

I love this movie!!
I teach third grade and I show this movie each spring. Most of the kids know who Babe Ruth is, those that don't will learn. We read a Who Was Babe Ruth? book to discover that he was real and why his bat is so important. It also shows a boy's love for his father and the game of baseball..

Obscure Treasure--Our 2 year-old's obsession
This is a sweet film that didn't make a big splash or a ton of money. Christopher Reeve's final project. Simple, innocent story with funny bad guys, rather than scary, who get what's coming to them for cheating and being mean. Lots of silly slapstick. The characters aren't super-complicated and the humor is definitely geared young--you won't get the big private, grown-up laughs that some kid movies embed for us adults. But my two-year-old LOVES this film and loves playing baseball as a result. And I'm happy with the absence of unwanted influences: no real violence, no guns, no nightmares. Highly recommend.

A perfect movie for toddlers
I had this movie when my kids were little, I ordered this one for my grandsons and when they come over this movie has to be on all day. Even now that my kids have grown up, they still love to watch it.

A thoroughly good story!!
Wasn't sure about this dvd but bought it on the basis of other recommendations and the fact that I have a adverse reaction to some of the animated "tripe" thats put out for kids especially on TV etc. I watched it (several times) with my critical 5 year old (going-on-15!!) Grandson. He was enthralled. He and I thoroughly loved it - the story is heart-warming and good - no American sugary sentiment. A credit to the memory of Christopher Reeve. Lovely. Liz in Wyke.

Star buy
I bought this DVD for my six year old son, it's an excellent family film about a young boy who goes on an adventure with a talking base ball and bat in order to get his dad his job back. It's a great film, very funny and well worth the low price I paid. My son loved it.
