The Animal Book: A Visual Encyclopedia of Life on Earth (DK Our World in Pictures)

My son is a massive animal lover and has asked for an animal fact book for his birthday. This book is going to be absolutely perfect! The images are wonderful and there are plenty of interesting facts about each animal. This is a very well made book and it looks so fancy!

I bought this for my five year old who is starting to learn about animals, at school and it’s fantastic. There is so much information and more importantly at this age, beautifully clear photographs with scales for context (ie size compared to a hand or a human.) It’s divided up into sub divisions and lays out clearly what would class, say a reptile or mammal and then breaks down the animals within the group. You’ll have a double page spread on the different types of wolves or dogs in the world, frogs, fish or plants and then a quadruple page spread on whales and dolphins, apes including humans. I’d highly recommend it for anyone of any age.

This book is wonderful. It exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend it if you wish to extend your knowledge worldwide animals.

I ordered the book for my 6 year old who is fascinated by animals, especially the dangerous ones. There is a lot of content which has kept her busy for quite a while. The pictures are of very high quality and the spacing of text on the pages makes it interesting to read for a child. The language used is not overly scientific so a minimum of help was required. The pages are sturdy which is good as book is heavy and has been dropped a few times. Definitely an Encyclopedia I would recommend and one I believe will be kept for my daughter to pass on to her own child some day.

Great illustrations. I originally bought it to help me back into drawing. Not done that yet as the book is full of interesting stuff.

This book came with a big dent in it but it was so close to christmas i just had to give it to my son but that was very disappointing. The content of the book is great, so many animals to look at, with a small sentence at the bottom about each animal. there is a small name beside all the animals. It is mostly visual. I got it for my 4yr old so he loves looking at all different animals and creatures. He can't read so the words didnt reallly matter too much for him at this point. I would say if you want more information then maybe another book might be better for you but this was just what I was looking for, tonnes of animals pictures.

This is one of the best books we've found for our child. Everything about this book is absolutely stunning. The quality is excellent, the pictures are fantastic, there are literally thousands of animals in there (from bugs, to bacteria, to birds), all shown to scale with just enough accompanying information to make your child keep turning the pages, and learning. In fact, as parents we find reading this with our child a wonderful experience; learning lots ourselves! If this book doesn't make you appreciate what a fantastic planet we live on, then nothing will. An absolute gem that will last for years and years.

Bought this book for 'later use' as my eldest grandson is only 3.75 years old but is already fascinated by the World. However, he has prised it out of our home & into his already and now spends ages drawing pictures from it and telling us all about many things he's found out. Now his #1 choice bed-time book too, then fiction for 2nd book, then back to this one for3rd. To say he LOVES it is an understatement!!!! Looks like I'll be getting more in the series for 4th birthday & Christmas!!! Truly a 'wonder full' book as it's so full of wonders!!!

Such a great book for the family. I bought it when my daughter was 18 months old, she loves looking at the pictures and we love reading it to her because we see and learn interesting things too.

My son loves reading this every night before bed. Covers so many different types of animals and the pictures are great. Highly recommended!

I got this so that I’d be able to show my toddler animals that we talk about. I am really happy I got this great book, because it depicts really all categories of animals and habitats with clear pictures and brief descriptions.

I am so impressed with this book. I bought it for a child, but now I wish I could keep it for myself. The book is large, and often with huge pictures. The pictures are full-colour and beautiful. Mesemerizing even. The cover and binding quality is top notch. This book will spark kids' interest and imagination for years in their developing phase. They will learn so much. I highly recommend this book for children.

De todas las compras de juguetes y diversos articulos, comprar esta enciclopedia fue descubrir lo que lo mantiene atento, feliz y no encuentro palabras para describir la emoción que es escuchar a mi hijo hablarme y señalarme con emoción las imagenes. Compré ya dos veces este libro, pues ya nos ha acompañado hasta el Safari(la cebra es real en la foto) y mi hijo pasa horas buscando en la red más fotos de cada animalito que viene en su libro. Lo unico que me encantaría es que estuviera disponible tambien en Español.
