These were used between an LSI controller (I tried two - a 9211-8i, and much newer more powerful 9266CV-8i) - and the Intel 24-port expander, and between the expander and the drive backplanes. Sometimes they would negotiate the full SATA III (6G), sometimes SATA II (3G), and occasionally original SATA I (1.5G). They also seemed not to like SAS drives 9WD 4TB RE Enterprise SAS) - I was ready to return the drives until I stole some popular brand (the big "M") bigger gauge cables out of an old 3G JBOD I had, and all the problems disappeared. Out of caution I will be returning these and ordering something a little more -- well known?I suspect at 1/2 the length one would have no problem, or in a very electrically "quiet" chassis, or at less than 6G/SATA 3, or possibly without expander (controller-to-backplane direct).

Value and performance are all here.
Great price and the quality looks to be just as good as the more expensive cables. I would guess you pay more for bigger gauge interconnects, but for short runs like this that's not really necessary. I'm using two to connect 6g LSI SAS card with a 6g 16-port backplane. Been stress testing for two weeks, no problem so far.
