Snapped
Very exciting plot of a serial killer. All over a bad job on the side wall. Agent Jade Monroe played a great part in the book. Would love to see a.movie made.

Rookie as lead agent?
Overall, I've enjoyed the Jade Monroe books. No, they aren't entirely realistic. But they are a nice "middle of the road" series between hard-core mysteries and "cozy" mysteries which I seldom read.My huge issue with this book is that Jade has just joined the FBI. This case comes up on her first day on the job. Jade has been partnered with a more experienced agent, but somehow Jade takes over and becomes the lead agent. That irritates me a lot. If she'd been an agent for awhile and NOT partnered with a more experienced agent, it would be fine. But taking over on her first day is completely unrealistic and wrong.

Interesting
I wish we could give half stars. It isn’t a bad book but Jade has a lot of latitude for a rookie. This requires the reader to suspend their beliefs while reading. I guess that’s what makes the story, Jade, our renegade protagonist. - Making a list and methodically check off each name. This is a story where the “Why” is important. - The series has promise, I’ll be reading Maniacal, the next in the series.

Gave up at 30%
Was surprised to find the author has written multiple books as this reads like a first time author. Quite a naïve style of writing.Jade reads like a 16 year old girl and not at all like someone that is moving from the Police to the FBI. Her "voice" just isn't mature enough and so there was a credibility issue from the start. There was a particular point where the book started to fall apart - and that was a conversation between Jade and her sister Amber. The conversation was supposed to be them just chatting - but it was used to fill us in on background information. Stuff that sisters would already know about each other. It was the equivalent of me telling my sister the names of our aunts and cousins in an attempt to let a 3rd party know our family tree. It didn't feel like a natural discussion. And, virtually on Jade's first day at the FBI, she stands up in front of experienced agents and tells them things about an unsub that comes across as condescending. And yet they show interest and acknowledge the points she makes like pearls of wisdom. Just doesn't add up.There are also some odd errors in the writing. For example - Jade phones J.T. and he smirked. How do we know that he smirked when it was a phone call? There are just lots of places where comments feel out of place - or things just seemed over explained (would an FBI boss really mansplain how to wear an ID pass on a lanyard round your neck?).Apologies to the author - but i'm giving up at the 30% stage. It may have been free but life's too short.

Sanitized to Sinister
Recently I enjoyed reading C M Sutter’s ‘Maniacal’ when main protagonist Jade Munroe had just been promoted from Detective to Sergeant , and now in ‘Snapped’ she is recently upgraded to work as an FBI Agent. The two books are based on serial killers and Jade’s impulsive actions, but I became aware of a shift from a light hearted entertaining writing style to something more sinister. Obviously with serial killer stories there must be deaths, but in ‘Maniacal’ this aspect was nicely sanitized, and yet for ‘Snapped’ there is horrific gratuitous violence. Also there is an uneasy vigilante edge to Jade that makes her less likeable than previous, and for me this leaves only an average thriller – hence 3-star rating.

WARNING, contains multipler spoilers.
Strangest book in this genre that I've ever read. Unfortunately, far more research was required. (The author could have even watched lots of episodes of Criminal Minds!) For a rookie FBI agent to act in the way that Jade Monroe did would surely result in her being drummed out of the service. She endangered not only her own life but also the lives of her fellow agents. Her selfish attitude was appalling, rookie FBI agents have to do as they are told and take instruction from more experienced and wiser supervisors, not just go off on their own. Yet her fellow agents lauded her! Incredible. I can't believe that the protagonist had mental health issues - untreated - and I'm really fed up of this old, tired cliché. Nobody on her list survived, and that truly is not what readers of crime novels want. We want SOME survivors! There again it was inconceivable that Jordan kept Jade alive. That surely would not have happened in a more realistic scenario, given Jordan's ruthlessness and state of mind. It would have been far more convenient for her to have just disposed of Jade. A total let down and really quite badly written. This was a free Kindle version so I haven't lost anything but I feel so cheated! This book just paints the FBI in a very bad light (and they wasted a heck of a lot of public money in this book too). Let's hope it isn't a reflection of true life. Otherwise, we're all doomed. Don't bother - even if it's still free, this book's not worth it. (And we never DID find out exactly what had happened to her dad!!)

Lost patience with the heroine
A good story in some ways but I felt Jade the heroine of the book should have been given the sack by her superiors for incompetence in her work. First she went alone to a suspects house, second she went back to her hotel for s shower when she had vital information and third she could have saved the lives of two people at the end of the story.Seeing as there is a whole series of books she probably indirectly kills s few more people on her path to promotion!

Ok read
Ok read and kept me wanting to read more.A few frustrating bits I thought especially for an FBI agent, like how towards the end she went and cleaned up and ate for an hour or so before updating the team of what had happened or any relevant names. Also can't believe some of the ways the FBI appeared to react & behave.I did enjoy the book though and do want to read more Jade Monroe books so despite the niggly comments above and other small niggles I will be reading more.
