Worth The Buy
I want to provide a thorough and thoughtful review of this book simply because of how impressed I am of the authors work and the level of detail that was put into his work. The author, Robert Galarowicz, established credibility with his audience by explaining how he himself suffered with kidney disease and then went on to study the health and nutrition that goes into helping treat his medical problem. He applied his gained knowledge supported by scientific research when working with thousands of people world wide.He used his feedback to learn what works and what doesn't then took the results to go on and write this book. This book is so great because its everything you need in one simple book; it has 3 different diets and tells you which is best depending on what stage of kidney disease you have. This is a huge plus considering how a lot of books out there only give you one diet approach. When it comes to the writing, I love how clearly outlined it is as well as how simple it is to follow. The level of detail was perfect because it was informative but not overwhelming or confusing. Not only that but there were no pictures so it was straight to the point of what you need to do. My favorite section of the book was the sample meal plans, where Galarowicz would give you examples of friendly kidney /healthy food recipes along with their appropriate macros ( my favorite was the pasta vegetable soup and the vegan overnight oats)!I can go on and on about this book but I’ll spare you the time. This book is a must buy and If I could rate it 6 stars I would. Amazing work. Thank you.

Clear and Comprehensive Step-by-step Recipes and Instructions, EVEN Eating out Guides!
I don’t usually write reviews but I was so impressed with this book and highly recommend to EVERYONE, even if you don’t have kidney disease! It’s always good to keep a healthy diet and know exactly what to and not to eat to keep the kidneys healthy.I’m so excited that Robert Galarowicz (author) took the time to not only tell you what foods are good and which are not good for kidney health, but his chapters are super comprehensive (in a good way). He outlines an entire day of what your breakfast, lunch, dinner, and in-between snacking should be, complete with a breakdown of nutritional values on everything!! He includes recipes along with clear directions on how to prepare everything: breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals and even how to prepare your snacks!!A lot of us were never taught to read a food label and he also teaches what to look out for on the labels for kidney health. My favorite is probably that he dedicates 4 chapters to kidney-friendly eating out including low protein and vegetarian diets! You DO NOT have to sacrifice eating out, he tells you how to order to make your dine-in or take-out meals kidney friendly!Lastly, fear not potato lovers! Included are step-by-step instructions on how to cook potatoes to lower potassium and make them kidney friendly (he does the same for olives, these are personal favorites)!!There is so much more; you definitely won’t regret it!

Clear Information - Practical Diets & Recipes
I’m so glad I found this book. This is certainly amazing information if you have a kidney condition or have been diagnosed with kidney disease. I was looking for information to learn about general care for kidneys, what common ailments and conditions are, and how to take the best care of my kidneys. I learned a *lot*.Galarowicz’s book is clear, concise and incredibly useful. There are three diets, and which one you choose depends on multiple factors such as whether you have kidney disease, what stage you are at if you do, is diabetes involved, etc. He also takes reality into account: what can you expect to be able to keep up every day. He also offers ideas for doing one diet every weekday and switch to another on weekends if that is more realistic for you. Each diet plan includes sections on what to eat, what not to eat, a menu plan, recipes, supplements and food companies that may be useful to a person following that plan. I really appreciate that organization when I'm trying to find something in a book.If you suspect or have any kidney trouble or have been diagnosed with kidney disease, this is a gem of a resource.

Good but incomplete.
There was some good basic information; however, the recipes did not always have clear and complete instructions.

Highly recommend this one stop shop for all of your renal related cooking and diet needs.
If you are on any type of restricted or monitored diet for your kidney function, this is a must have. Just as it states on the cover, it will help you choose the best diet for your stage and what the next best options are. The guide breaks everything down in a very simple and user friendly way.A few important details to note. This guide includes 3 science-based kidney diets with sections on the dietetics renal diet, vegetarian diet, and low protein diet. In addition to the individual sections, it provides detailed examples about other ways you may need to supplement the diet plan, and also gives explanations about why this is needed. I don't know about you, but I like to know the why behind the reasons. My favorite part of the guide is that it includes shopping lists, and more importantly, an eating out guide. There is nothing worse than going out to dinner, and having to stress over the ingredients used to prepare the meal you are supposed to be enjoying.Overall, this is a very well written guide to live a healthier lifestyle while being mindful of your renal health. I would recommend ordering this book and using it daily!
