Excellent book! Wonderful tips. A Bible for right hand technique.

The content is good. Very technically rich and helpful to improve violin bowing technique.But in my opinion the book is too pricy.

A nice book that is divided into two parts. The first part is about basic bowingphysics and skills. The second part is about articulation and performancebased on different bowing techniques. The description is clear, though morepictures can be inserted between the lines. It's often hard to visualize thepositions without a clear understanding of the terms and visualizationcapability. The analysis in the second part of the book is fundamental andthorough. This book serves as a nice companion to violin players. Of course,the great play comes not after reading a good book, but from extensive practice.

Great book!

After reading and following some exercises, I have improved a lot in my right hand. Now the sound generated from the bow is much better and I'm going to explore more in this book.

A lot of information in a relatively few short pages, presented in an accesible manner, even for a beginner like myself. It made me think much more deeply into what is arguably the most difficult and important aspect of playing the violin and achieving good tone production. The examples go to a higher skill level, so I shall be using this book for quite a long time. I bought a second hand copy, not certain if it is available new. I feel fortunate to have got hold of such a book.

Really makes you think about phrasing as well as technique, and covers multiple styles of vow hold without being dogmatic.

Because I am a self teaching violin student, I just love this technical book concerning the bow practicing.... I do agree that the secret for a super great tone in violin playing is alllllllll in the bow technic.... and it is the hard part of learning that is the most difficult (that is my point of view), so if you are quite serious about making rich tone with your bowing, well this is the book to read and to study very carefully because it is serious work, so it is more for adult students who can study this book through many years of practicing, I would even say that, for me, it is the bible of the violin, the one book you keep reading and reading.... from Clo in Canada

I love it; but I fill too costly.In page no.32, para 5, it is written that,"For changing the bow from down-bow to up-bow, simply reverse the direction of movements in the seuence."May I expect some detaied explanation for changing the bow from down-bow to up-bow?--- [email protected]
