Lifesaver after surgery
We have an 100 lb American chocolate lab. I ordered an XL and it fit perfect. Our dog recently had ACL surgery. His stitches kept coming out so we wrapped his wound then used this sleeve over it and it helped tremendously. We wash almost every day and it has held up nice. It slides off every now and then while he sleeps but it not a big deal to fix. I was skeptical to buy based on other reviews, but glad we did and would recommend.

Worked well
This worked well for our dog after her TPLO surgery. She's an 80 lb Lab. Depending on how she moved, it did slide and needed adjusting, but overall it worked well, especially for the first couple of weeks or so when we needed to keep her from licking the incision. It washed up well.

Awesome but not super durable
My lab had surgery on her leg, and we've had the worst time keeping her from messing with the incision. After a week of constantly staying after her, and her chewing it open (in the middle of the night WITH the cone of shame on!)..we realized we needed more. Thankfully we found this and it's been a godsend. Since putting this on, she hasn't messed with it once. We've been able to sleep without worrying about her getting at it and we've even been able to take the cone off. She's a big lab (110+ lbs), and was at the highest end of the scale for the XXL...but thankfully it stretched a bit and ended up working quite well. The leg material is soft and stretchy, has absorbed some of the discharge. Overall, we are very pleased and grateful for this!! Update: we've had this a week, and the fabric has torn. Granted, I have a large dog but it's just not very durable. It's a soft jersey fabric (understable), which is nice but it tore so easy and now it is twisting and falling off my lab. I'm disappointed, it started off so great.

Works in a pinch but not ideal. Good idea, poor execution.
Works in a pinch but not ideal. I got a blowup pillow cone for around the neck which works great. I bought this leg sleeve as a deterrent for my other dogs licking the wound. It’s better than nothing but it only stays up and in place as long as the dog doesn’t get up or lay down. Then I have to adjust and re-cover the affected area. With some design modifications it might work better but now I’m just wishing I’d been able to find a set of simple dog pjs to do the trick. At least it wasn’t crazy expensive and as I said, better than nothing.

Perfect for my dog’s TPLO recovery
This sleeve is really great for my dog’s recovery from his TPLO surgery. I ordered the XL and he’s a large 73lb lab, Irish setter, poodle mix. He has a lean build. (Picture of full body included for body type reference). The breathable and loose fitting cotton material is great for incision protection. The material also will easily show a wet spot if the your dog starts licking the area to let you know if you need to remove it and throw it in the dryer to keep incision area dry. The ties are not anything that will withstand much handling and they fray but I tied a knot at the end of each and that has prevented any further fraying. I’d keep a dollar store sewing kit on hand just in case. The cost for hospital gown material and how not super durable it is, is remarkably overpriced but honestly this is exactly what I needed to keep my dog’s incision dry and covered so that makes up for it. I don’t think this will fit a wide range of body types but for a lean build and proportional height it will do the trick. There are other length options on the brand’s website. Would recommend for the right build.

Good alternative to 'cone of shame' but comes with some caveats
My 15 lb Silky Terrier tore his CCL and was sent home with the clear plastic cone. Like many other reviewers, he would not tolerate the cone, at all. We tried the inflatable collar and found he tolerated it but it didn't extend past his snout. He could still get to his stitches but offered some 'resistance' to licking. We were worn out and about give up hope when we came across this protective sleeve. We ordered the small-short sleeve, and the fit was just right. Like others, we used his soft harness to attach the neck ties. Tying around his neck or collar was not an option due to his narrow wind pipe. There is some initial adjustment required for the neck and hip ties to make sure it doesn't gap open when sitting or isn't too tight when laying down. You do have to keep adjusting the ties as they tend to loosen up when stretched or from activity. My Caveat: this should not be viewed as a replacement for the cone if your dog really wants to lick their incision. If motivated, they'll probably find a way to lick around the inside section of the sleeve or remove it all together. As an extra precaution, we placed a large band aid on the outside of the sleeve directly over his wound, and keeps the sleeve dry from any saliva. The sleeve has greatly discourage licking, but when he's not in our sight, we put the inflatable collar on as an extra precaution. Overall, pleased with the performance and fit. If you dog is closely monitored, this provides an effective and dog friendly way to reduce stress and lesson the chance of infection or re injury. As some have mentioned, I would like to see an option where both legs are covered in a pants or suit type style. This would prevent the risk of falling off or gaping. FYI, a recovery suit is available on Amazon, search for Buckwheat Recovery Wear for Dogs.

Good alternative to a cone
Used this instead of a cone after TPLO surgery on my 62 lb boxer/bulldog mix. It was effective at preventing her from licking/scratching. I liked that it is breathable to allow healing. This was the exact same sleeve that the surgeon sent her home with. Yes, is is rather difficult to figure out how to put on, but once I did it a couple of times, it was not difficult. It did slip off easily until I made an extra loop to thread the string through. That seemed to help prevent slipping. I purchased this one to alternate while I washed (by hand) the other one. Overall, this was much better for my girl instead of a cone for 2 weeks. I even kept it on for a few days after staples were removed as it seemed to make her more careful of that leg. We are still in the healing process and are going for follow up x rays next week. This product helped quite a bit if it fits properly - be sure to measure.
