The most lovely story ever!! Plus great RPG experience!!
I really don't know how to write a good review, but here it comes. The first time I played this game was on Nintendo GameCube and it was awesome, I'm not really an RPG person (pokemon is always the exception) But this game was different from so many games, Baten Kaitos, Final Fantasy etc.. You really felt the action and the sword in your hand since you actually take controll over the character, but you still learn new technices, your stats grow as you level up, you need to select items or other actions from a menu but that is all, you need to actually make combos, wich you can make in many different ways, then you can finish a combo with an ''arte'' (special atack) and later you can finish them with a stronger ''arkane arte'' The ecuation ends like this: (Normal Attack)+(Normal Attack)+(Normal Attack)+(Normal Attack)=Combo You can increase this combo as you level up. Then you can finish your combo like this (Combo)+(arte) or (Combo)+(arkane arte) and even like this (Combo)+(arte)+(arkane arte) wich is the best way to deal damage and fight like a pro. So the fighting mechanics are awesome, this mechanics were improved with the launch of new tales games, such as tales of abyss, tales of vesperia etc etc But the escence it's still the same. Now the story, oh, the story of this game is.. like icing on the cake. I don't want to spoil anything but I can tell you that you will definetly fall in love with each character and their story, everything that happens is really cool, there's a lot of drama, love, and really really great twists to the story, so you will be entertained more than 30 gameplay hours, this game is going to became one of your favorites of all time. Replay value, even after you finish the main game there's still a lot of sidequests to finish, and I mean A LOT. Every sidequest comes with funny new dialogs between the characters wich makes you feel more into them. The music, well it's not great but it's not bad either, some tunes are really simple and fun, some others will make you want to leave the area really quick to stop hearing that tune. But mostly it is really enjoyable. The other game. Knights of ratatosk is a great game too, though it's not as great as the predecesor, you will still love the story, since every character from the first game is back on this secuel. This is a must for ps3 owners, it an all time classic wich you need to keep on your collection for loong loong years, trust me, you wont regret the experience.

If you loved the original ToS on the Gamecube then this is ...
If you loved the original ToS on the Gamecube then this is definitely something worth getting! The game has cleaner, polished graphics based on the PS2 edition of the game that came out in Japan a couple years after the original Gamecube release. Furthermore, there are extra cutscenes, events, costumes, battles, items, etc. in this version that makes the game worth replaying. Also you are able to choose between English or Japanese (in the Japanese version the Skits were voiced, so it makes the gameplay enjoyable because the skits have more life to them). The PS3 Chronicles also comes with the spin-off sequel Dawn of the New World that was originally on the Wii. I never got around to playing this because I wasn't crazy of the game in the first place because I did not enjoy how the story and original characters were handled. Although if you view it as a completely new experience separate from the original ToS characters and world, it is enjoyable. IF you have never played Tales of Symphonia I think you will still like this. It is not as flashy as the new Tales games, but it is a wonderful RPG that still holds strong to this day and it has a lot to offer in terms of story, exploration and gameplay.

Still awesome.
This game still holds up years after its release. One of the best Tales Of and a personal favorite. Symphonia that is. And now finally ith mystic artes and all that stuff they held back from the US release! And new costumes if you have Graces F and Xillia saves. The other one, well it isn't bad as game but as a sequel it fails pretty hard. I could ingore the different voice actors and the mispronunciation if it wasn't for some story elements that just do not work. Not to mention a flashback to something that literally happened a minute or two in the past. The new features are all fantastic. Except that English subtitles show up during the after-battle chatter. Distracting at first (i think they showed up in the first Botta fight too, that was really distracting) but you learn to ignore them. I wish they'd relase a patch so we can turn them off. Also great to have the Japanese VO available, it makes those "Z-skits" or whatever they are now more enjoyable. And battle can be pretty funny for anyone who doesn't know much Japanese (like me). I can't tell just yet but for some reason co-op seems a lot better, on the GC version usually if we were not attacking the same enemy one of us was off screen. Either widescreen or some tweaking done and most of the time we can both see what we are doing all the time. I am only in the early parts of this game (didn't even ride the boat to Palmacosta yet) so I will probably be back with more details on the new features later. I personally can't wait to jump into that spooky book and fight the new boss battle in there.

*Note: I have not played Tales of Symphonia 2, so this review is strictly for Tales of Symphonia A fast paced, fun, and great JRPG. If you loved the GC or PS2 version, this is a great update to the game, and I highly recommend it. The battle is a free moving fighter-style in an open 360 degree field, that focuses on combo-ing basic attacks with special moves, and other allied attacks. The story revolves around the characters, their identities, and how they cope with loss. There's many different ways to go through the game, after you've beat it at least once. You can unlock New Game+ content, such as harder difficulties, XP modifiers (anywhere between 0.5 to 10), and the option to carry over data from one save to a new save. Some new features in this version include dual audio voice acting, Japanese only voice acted skits, and some new outfits for your characters. Not to mention the HD graphics for the games, of course. If you've played either game, definitely buy this one, as it is a solid update to the series. (Sorry I can't say much for ToS 2, I'm just assuming it's received a similar amount of updates as the first has.)
