Hornby Santa's Express Christmas Toy Train Set R1248, Red, Blue & Yellow

We absolutely love this train. We wanted a train for around the Christmas tree and bought a battery train from another brand but that one was terrible and such a headache to be charging the battery all the time. I wanted an electric train set but all of them are too expensive and then I happen to find this one. Compared to the other train sets I thought it was going to be a cheap train but turns out it seems pretty good quality. Track was a little hard to put together but other than that the train has been pretty good. Doesn't derail at all and has pretty good speed. We absolutely love it. If anything changes I will update the review but as of now everything is working perfectly!

The set works amazingly and it’s exactly as advertised

A great starter set, providing a good introduction to the world of European style trains modeled in the British counterpart to American HO scale, which runs on standard HO track. The locomotive is nicely modeled, though it lacks significant power, causing the locomotive wheels to slip if too much weight is behind it in the number or weight of freight cars. Makes a good Christmas set for a decorative arrangement around a table size holiday tree and or appropriately sized Christmas village.

Quality and quiet small train. Easy to assemble and stays on track fairly well. My 5 year old enjoys using the controller to speed up or slow down the engine and cars.

Once you set it up (be careful) runs and quiet.

I love the small engine it comes with. It runs very well, it can't pull much due to its size.

Year one we had no trouble. Train ran fine for our Christmas village until the day before taking everything down. Engine stopped running. Motor went bad and would sometimes run for a few seconds and then stop.

Great little train. My son loves it. He’s only four and wants to touch it all the time and keeps knocking it off the track. That said, it’s seems durable because of that.

The set arrived the next day delivered in nick condition by Amazon. I bought it at a bargain price, and for once, Amazon out did Hattons on price. A lovely Christmas set from Hornby comprising of an 0-4-0 loco, an open wagon filled with presents and a carriage for Santa's sleigh, plus an oval of tack transformer and a controller. It didn't come with a track mat and came with the old style controller from Hornby. I've not had the set out the box yet as I still haven't put me tree up, so can't say how well she runs. She does look nice though! As soon as I get her running round me tree I'll upload a vid! Chow for now!👍🚂🚃🚃🚃🍺😁👍

I bought this because i wanted to decorate the Christmas table with something special... It is very easy to assembly, but everything is plastic, so don't expect Mærklin quality with this set... But it is cute and good for children to play with :)

A fait son effet sous le sapin vitesse réglable par le boîtier reste un petit peu léger pour être manipulé par les enfants et bouton marche avant, stop et arrière dur.. mais je pense durable... A condition de faire attention a l'emboîtement des rails a l'installation ! Attention prise anglaise ! Prévoir un adaptateur !

Item is as advertised. Arrived safely in excellent recyclable packaging, on time as promised. Loco and rolling stock are excellent. Track is up to Hornby's usual high standard. If ordering from the UK you need to get an adapter for the plug pack to plug it into an Australian GPO. I was building a small layout to go around a live Christmas tree in a pot and I used a different PWM type controller to achieve scale speed for the train. The loco came with an open wagon loaded with presents and a van for Santa's sleigh. I added a few more trucks and vans.
