The Research Methods Knowledge Base, 3rd Edition 3rd Edition

A very good basic and supplementary book in research methodology, highlighting different research approaches, methods for collecting data, detailed descriptions of data analysismethods, and issues concerning validity and reliability of using different methods. Furthermore, the book is very pedagogic, but sometimes too positivistic in some parts.

This book came in great condition. The book was used for my Doctoral class and had a great deal of information vital to my success in that class. It was shipped very fast as well.

The book displays information in a smooth, understandable rapid way by which one comprehends the main mechanism that underly the diverse methodologies. Nothing to say in regards of the book and shipping details

This book is just okay. I disagree with other readers who have said that it's a complicated read. This book is very simplistic in nature- I was required to purchase it as an accompaniment to another book for a psychometrics course and the best use of this book is to read for the VERY basic of definitions and then bolster knowledge from elsewhere. It's an easy read, but at times too conversational in nature. The author makes jokes throughout the book, which is somewhat off putting when it comes at the price of sacrificing content. Id say that this book is best suited for someone just getting started in research- just know that you will need another book to really get at the meat that this one overlooks.

I used this book in grad school, and admired its accessible writing and easy-to-understand concepts. However, I keep having to order more copies! I lend it to colleagues, who like it so much they want to keep it, and so my organization has to keep ordering more. If that's not the sign of a good book, I don't know what is.

Trochim and Donnelly do an excellent job of explaining things concisely so that the reader doesn't spend forever trying to understand things. I'm not sure if this book alone would be perfect, but I would definitely want this book in conjunction with another book by Cozby (Methods in Behavioral Research). Together, these two books are seemingly everything a researcher must have for his research.

Book lacked important material I needed for my studies.

My research course requires us to use 4 textbooks and I've found this to be the easiest one to read and get definitions from. It seems like the most basic of all research/statistic-oriented books, as its layout in very accessible, which makes it great for those of us who don't want to read a text for hours on end.

Dr. Trochim takes on the formidable task of teaching research epistemology and methodology with a touch of humour using plain language. A very valuable textbook for new researchers.
