Hayward SPX1068G3 Brush Replacement for Select Hayward Vacuum Cleaner Heads, Set of 3

These are plastic with a metal binder. They fit the more premium Hayward Vacuum Cleaner Heads. I had no problem removing the old ones and installing these. They were an exact fit., I had to disassemble head by unscrewing the hose fitting and then tap theold ones out the side with a screwdriver. Then you just slide the new ones in (tap with a small hammer if necessary. Originals rotted after a few years so I hope these will last a while longer.

09/2023 Update: 3 seasons later the brushes are still in really nice shape. Looks like this set will last a really long time just like the originals.10/2021 Update: No signs of unusual bristle loss/wear after a full season of use.OEM Hayward brush replacements. Worked perfectly on a 20yr old SP1068 vacuum head. Only thing that has changed is the brush color is now blue instead of clear. As for durability I'm not witnessing any of the issues yet that other reviewers are reporting. Used numerous times at season opening to clean the pool and the brushes still look great.

Go to YouTube and watch the video on Changing Brushes Hayward SuperVac. Walks you through the process. Have a can of WD-40 nearby as sliding out the old brushes can be a bit of a bear. It fits and works as designed what I don't like is the longevity. The first replacement I purchased lasted 3 seasons now they only last one.

The replacement brushes worked perfectly. But, I will say that you have to read the instructions. It looks like you could just slide out the old ones and slide in the new ones but you need to separate the top and the bottom of the head and then they slip right in. I always read instructions so once I saw that the old brushes didn't slip right out I read the correct procedure. If you don't follow the instructions you are in for a hard time.As far as how long they last, we will see what happens. I saved the package and will deal directly with Hayward if the bristles show signs of early failure. I prefer Hayward products whenever possible. I first bought a replacement vacuum head from another pool name and it was awful.

Pool installer used Hayward Brand pool products and I have continued to use them. I will say that I have experienced a signifcant difference in recent years in the amount of time before I have to replace pool vacuum head brushes... their useful life has significantly reduced. Not sure if this is because they are manufactured now in China or not. Pool installed in 2002, and I do not know where brushes manufactured then, but earlier brushes use to last years rather than months.

Great replacement and pre curved so it slides in place easily with light taps from a hammer.
