HORMEL Beef Tamales, Canned Tamales, 15 Oz

What can I say, they are HORMEL !!

We love the Chicken or the Beef tamales. Throw a can of chili beans and shredded cheese cheesy on them. All the protein. Great quick meal.

I've always loved these since I was a child and Mom used to make them for us in a pinch. Mom says her Mom made them for her and her Dad back in the 40's and 50's and she loved them back then also! She says her Mom used to heat them in the sealed can in boiling water before opening them to serve. I heat them in the microwave in 3 minutes. They didn't have microwaves back then! Great taste that amazingly I don't get burned-out on. I bought two cases of 12 cans each and eat about one can/week and I always enjoy them. Can't beat the price. I want to have plenty of these available when society collapses and there is no more food available. LOL!

Okay, before anyone says it... YES, I know these do not and will never compare to fresh handmade tamales. BUT, for what they are, they are pretty dang good. I remember having canned tamales on occasion as a child and was instantly in love. It seemed like a treat as it was something that was not a commonly eaten food at home. After having been an adult for many years, I FINALLY experienced the joys of REAL tamales. However, I still come back to this time and again as a comfort food. (I have even been know to just eat them straight out of the can). The tamales are wrapped in what appears to be wax paper and are smothered in a watery chili based sauce, You can always pour off the sauce or use it as a gravy. As you can see in the pic with one cut in half, the proportion of meat filling compared to the masa is very nice. in the final pic, I display how one may serve them. baked in the oven and smothered in cheese, accompanied by some chipotle and lime rice. TASTY! Grab you a few cans and experience the joy for yourself.

This was delivered quickly. The cans were mostly not bent.

I bought the case of these because you can’t get them in Canada but are a family favourite- but I think I got a bad batch- took them out and put in microwave- when I unwrapped them they fell to pieces- looked like dog food😳 but thought I would still try them the taste was gritty and unpalatable!!! Tried another can and the same thing- afraid to try any more- what a disappointment!

Good product but ìs horribly overpriced

It is a very good product that needs to be more widely available in Canada. The only problem is too high a price. Amazon needs to do more to obtain a supply that does not have the same out of line pricing.
