Blocked out the cold air coming through my rangehood
I tried different approaches to block out cold air coming from my rangehood including replacing the roof vent. This was by far the most effective. The moment I put it in all the cold air stopped coming out. Very impressed. From my research and looking at similar dampers in hardware stores, the quality is absolutely superb.

Super efficient
Loved it. Easy to install and now if have NO smell, and NO condensation in my dryer. This was caused by the common vent duct with my lower level neighbor. The issue was not his fault but since he did laundry almost every day, it got a bit much with the smell and dampness.Great product, even though it cost a little more than some others, it is commercial grade and works like it !!

Fits like a glove, sturdy.
Exactly what I needed for a leaky vent! Backdraft is gone, and this we very simple to install. Craftsmanship is top notch.

Pricey, and a bit flimsy, but they work
You have to be careful that the duct/tubing into which the LDES 4 Inch Round Spring Loaded Backdraft Damper is installed, for two reasons:1) The gasket will distort if the duct isn't almost perfectly round, leaving a gap/gaps around the damper.2) If the duct is sufficiently out-of-round, the one or both flaps will stop functioning. These dampers seem AWFULLY expensive, considering the lightweight (aka flimsy) gauge of metal used for the tube holding the damper "leaves". The damper leaves work good (a relatively gently breath "at" the damper will cause the leaves to open), but the tube holding the leaves should be one or two metal gauges heavier.

Great Product
It took seconds to install. Now I don’t hear any flap making noise.

Great for keeping out the cold
I used this item to prevent cold air from, entering the dryer between uses. It works great. My wife does not complain about the cold air when she puts the first load into the dryer. I installed it as directed at the dryer output so the valve opens wit max pressure from the dryer. I could not get to the outside vent from the inside so I can only say it works when used at the dryer outlet. I am looking at putting one on my downdraft vent for my cooktop in the future.

Choose the Back Draft Damper before the Vent Fan
The damper selected for the installation of a vent fan can be as important as the fan you select. I purchased two of these units for two ventilation fans in my home. I tested both units on the fans inside the duct before I installed them to observe the operation of the fans. I wasn't sure the smaller fan had enough pressure to open it but it was not a problem. If you are using this item with a brand new ventilation fan you should consider where the damper will be located and the length of the vent pipe so that the size of the fan you order will fully open the damper. If you look at the damper included with new vent fans you will see that they do not provide an airtight seal. I am hoping to eliminate insects, and also the noise associated with air traveling into the vent pipe from the outside. The manufacturer's website accurately pictures the damper with only two springs and there was no need to remove a third spring as described in an older review of this product. In my opinion products like this damper are normally selected for use by knowledgeable experienced contractors who understand the technical aspects and benefits of this product. I was not disappointed in any way after I put both fans in operation.

Highly recommend.
There was a mixup on my order. And the boxes contained 5” dampers instead of 4”. But Discount Filter and Aldes is making it right even though the 30 day return has ended. They are both great companies. The damper is very, very well made. I am using it on bathroom fans that are installed in the attic. The opening pressure seems to be <0.05 inches of water. I measured the change in air flow after it was installed. It was less than 10%. I have tied 3 bathroom fans with 4” ducts together and routed through a roof vent.Highly recommend.
