Fantastic Camera
Seems every teenager wants an Instax camera because one of their friends have one, so we bit and bought our 12 year old daughter one for Christmas. I just didn't see the appeal of the economy model that most people buy since it just snaps a photo and prints it immediately. For most people that novelty wears off quickly. With no way to view the images, I can see lots of expensive film wasted. Kids tend to want to take photos of everything, and no parent wants to pay $20 per box of film on mostly wasted photos.This more expensive model solves all those problems. It functions as a true digital camera in that it has a display so you can see what you're shooting, and stores the photos on the camera or optional SD card. Thus you're able to review the images and only print the ones you want, saving that film for memories that are worth saving or giving out to people.There's tons of customization features like filters and frames that will keep an older kid entertained for hours. It has bluetooth which allows you to connect the camera to a phone or tablet which greatly expands the features. You can take pictures remotely using a phone/tablet (instead of a timer, which the camera can also do) and even view the viewfinder of the camera on your phone or tablet. The app gives you a huge selection of extra frames that aren't contained on the phone, and you can assign up to three additional ones to the camera and change them out as you please. The frames are very classy, even with plenty that an adult would find useful that really spruce up the image. It's possible to create a real lovely, unique photo using these. You can also print photos from the bluetooth device you have paired, in case you want to print something you downloaded or a photo you'd taken on another device, essentially turning the camera into a printer.I was blown away at the amount of features you get in this little camera and I think it's perfect for an older kid / teenager so long as you caution them on the expense of the film, but what I've found is that there's so much to do on the camera itself that they really won't want to print things unnecessarily.My only qualm is that the image quality (taken from the camera) is pretty mediocre, reminds me of the cellphone cameras of 10 years ago. It's not unusable by any means, but you probably want good quality lighting and a steady hand to take good ones. Plenty satisfactory for a kid, but as an adult I'd be disappointed if that's the only camera I had to rely on. The couple photos we did print came out rather dark, but it's still a usable photo and I imagine we can improve the printed quality after playing around with it more.Build quality isn't the greatest, I'll just say it, the camera feels cheap in the hand, very lightweight. I don't think it could survive too many drops. Fit and finish are good and the buttons are fine with good feedback.Overall very pleased with this purchase; it's a fair bit of money for what it is, but those extra dollars are money well spent compared to the cheaper instax camera, in my opinion.The included bag with this kit is just fine for the purpose. It looks nice, not a high dollar bag, but it functions fine and looks like it will hold up reasonably well.

Waaaaay better than it's competitor
Not sure I can mention the competitor, but I initially bought that one and was greatly disappointed with how shoddy the pictures turned out; although it had options to set the brightness and such, the focus and light was never good no matter how much I tweaked it, and don't get me started on the photo blemishes that "add character"...This camera however is perfect! Not only does it take great pictures, but it functions as a printer!!!! (for small pictures, of course)

Eh it’s ok
Don’t like where the button is to take a pic. I keep wanted to push the mic/voice button. Almost wished I didn’t upgrade to this and just got the basic version that my daughter wanted
