Is rubber insert secure?

I had mine in my pocket two days and used the knife once and the rubber started to peal off. It didn't re-stick either. I pulled it off the rest of the way and the glue underneath was very dry. I applied some Loctite superglue and its now holding.

Has anyone owned this for 6 months or more and how is it holding up?

I have had this knife for a while now and it's holding up great . The only flaw,which didn't affect it's functioning ,was that the the small rubber inlay has come off. I do a lot of service calls in my area and it has always served me well. The serrated blade is still very sharp. The bottle opener has come in handy.The glass break is a great feature. You never know what may happen. I recommend it! Hope this helps.

Has anyone tried using a fire steel with it?

Absoluteley! Carry it everyday! Sparked a fire up on a trip to Limekiln campground. Works fine! I sharpen the plain edge in a kitchen knife sharpener every so often. Only peeve sofar is black rubber scale is wearing off Cruz its up against my leg ribbon all day long in my pant pocket.

Has anyone used the cord cutter as trauma shears?

Although it would probably cut through clothing material and bandages, it may not do so seamlessly. What I mean by this is that there would probably be some tugging involved depending on the material being cut, and the control of the cut would vary depending on this. I would stick to shears for removing clothing from a patient, but then again, I'm not a doctor or EMT.
