Great addition to stairwell
Bought for extra support on basement stairs. It's perfect! Great size, perfect bar thickness, easy to mount. Serves the purpose.

Inexpensive and sturdy
Update (1/26/2020): I've been pleased with the grab bars so I bought 4 more so that I can grab them with both hands for most of the length of my basement stairs. I bought two of these 12" grab bars for my basement stairway. I'm tall and at the top of the stairs I would need to lean over about 9" in order to grasp the existing stair rail. Once I am down a step or two, it's not an issue because I can reach back slightly to grasp the rail. Going up also is not much of a problem because I can grasp the door frame at the top. I experimented and decided to place the grab bar at about a 30 degree angle to the horizontal with the low end towards the top of the stairs. That makes it easy to grab with the natural angle of my arm and hand. I placed the second grab bar similarly at the landing where the stairs turn 90 degrees a couple of steps from the bottom. The grab bar is lighter than I expected but feels sturdy. Installation is easy even though there are no instructions. You need to snap the cosmetic covers off the mounting flanges, slide the covers over the bar, bolt the flanges to the bar, screw the flanges to the wall, and slide the covers over the flanges. The grab bars come with mounting screws and drywall anchors. I would suggest that you screw at least one end to a stud rather than using the drywall anchors. I got lucky, there were convenient studs at both ends of both of my grab bars. I'm not sure how they came up with the 12" measurement. They are about 13" between the outer edges of the flanges, 11" between the centers of the flanges, and 10" in the grab area. The bar itself is about 1" in diameter.

Small Size
The 24" Shower Grab Bars looked good, and felt good to grab, I a lot smaller than I expected. Therefore, I returned them.

Incorrect Dimensions and Supplied Mounting is Weak
I bought these bars to mount horizontally on 16 inch spaced studs. I did not have room to mount any bars vertical or at any angle. They were the only ones I could find that have an 32 inch spacing at a reasonable price. After receiving I measured the bars and found out the imperial dimensions given were incorrect. Most of the metric dimensions I measured were correct or close enough. I wanted a more sturdier mounting than using the supplied drywall anchors. I wanted at least two screws on each side to be in the wall studs. I found out the spacing between the end mounting brackets using two holes to be in studs to be 31.5 inches. Therefore, I was able to mount the bars using two of the mounting holes into each stud. I used two #8x2 inch sheet metal screws into each stud and a 1/8 inch toggle bolt in the third mounting hole into the drywall. This gives a mounting strength of about 500 lbs. Because the toggle bolt was located in the center line of the bar tightening it was possible using a 1/4 inch Philips #2 bit and a small crescent wrench. I hope the bar mounted to the mounting brackets will hold 500 lbs. Because of the bracket spacing I spent a lot of time using two types of stud finders to insure I knew where the center of the studs were. Mounting and assembly was easy once I knew the exact center of the studs. I you take the listed metric dimensions given and convert them to imperial (inches) you will see that the inch measurements are incorrect.

This product is very flimsy ... upon inspection of handles I found diameter of handles are very small and narrow ..this is for my elderly mother and I wouldn’t have the confidence to install for her safety ..contacted company as well to return ...no response
