An Amazing Doll
Matilda is a 16 inch doll with 9 points of articulation (neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees). She has a beautiful full wig that is easy to care for. She has grey eyes that are inset (not sleep eyes). Her vinyl is of such quality that it feels like porcelain, but isn't. She is a high quality play doll. Her clothing is high quality. She comes with bloomers, a chemise, socks, grey velvet shoes that match her dress, and a French hood. Her grey velvet dress is in two pieces, a bodice that fastens in the back with 3 snaps and a skirt that has a grey over over skirt that is split in the middle to show her plum colored petticoat. All pieces of her clothing close with snaps, no Velcro here! Her outfit replicates that of a lady in waiting in King Henry VIII's court.I recommend getting her book. It is a page turner and I, as an adult couldn't put it down. Matilda is sent to court to be a Lady in Waiting to Queen Anne, King Henry's fourth wife. She is to help her cousin, Katherine Howard catch the Kings eye and make a bid to become wife number five. Read it to see what happens.

I love the doll but mine arrived with a few flaws
I love the doll but mine arrived with a few flaws, one of which was a slightly uneven wig glued down in the front. I did not like the joints in the knees. They immediately pop back straight when you try to bend them. They work well in the arms though. The movements are very limited because of the rubber band joints and that was a disappointment. The dolls are pretty with natural facial features and nice coloring. The clothes are nice enough but the fabric could have been better and some of the sewing is crooked.

Strikingly Beautiful!
Pictures do not do justice to this doll. Matilda, a 16" vinyl doll, looks like a porcelain beauty but has 9 different joints so that you can pose her in a number of ways, including sitting like a lady. She's made of high quality materials, better even than American Girl dolls, but is 2" smaller and has an all vinyl body. She looks exactly like a twelve or thirteen year old girl and would be a perfect "last" (is there ever really a last?) doll for that age. First in a planned series of 6 British dolls, Matilda is a lady-in-waiting in King Henry VIII's court in 1540.

Gorgeous doll, great way to foster an interest in history
Matilda is an extremely well made and beautiful doll. I love her soft features, her face is lovely & gentle. She has pretty brown hair and gray eyes. There's details in even her hands and feet. She has such a sweet expression. Her outfit looks perfect on her and fits the era. She even comes with a full set of "small clothes" (historical underwear). I do wish her diary came with her, but it wasn't that expensive to purchase it separately. I also bought her nightshift, and plan to buy her ball gown & cape soon.I am very pleased with the new Girl for All Time line of dolls, and plan to get the rest of them. The dolls are well made, the history and story with the dolls seems well researched. They would be the perfect gift for any young reader, or those of us who like to collect nice dolls. I would definitely recommend these dolls to others.

Beautiful doll.
Beautiful doll from A Girl for All Time historical series. She has a hard vinyl body that feels very velvety to the touch. Her hair is very long and lovely. Excellent quality.

All the dolls in this line are fabulous
She's a lovely doll, with a great book that goes along with her. Beautiful costume (Tudor) and facial features. This was bought for a collector

AGFT Matilda
I'm very pleased. I received matilda quickly and I think she is my favorite doll, more so than AG and Kids n Cats. Only issue and this seems to be for everyone, the red from the kirtle causes the petty coat to turn pink at the waist. Matilda's hair is nicer than the above mentioned dolls.

Beautiful doll, fantastic concept, but some quality issues
The design of this doll is really extraordinary - she's really beautiful and unusual, appealing to children (at least older ones - my daughter is 12) and adults alike. Her eyes are bright and life-like and she has a very sweet expression. I love the historical/genealogical concept of this doll line as well. I would give five stars for the concept and the artistry/design. However, the doll we received was a little beneath what I would expect for the price in terms of quality. I love that she's jointed, but the joints are a little loose - legs, arms, and head. I have seen another Matilda with tighter joints, so I think this is a matter of quality control. Also, out of the box, her red skirt was wrinkled enough to need to be ironed and had bled through a little to her underskirt, leaving a light pink stain. The outer dress is fine for a play doll, but not the quality of a collector doll, which I mention, again, just because of the price. It's not quite to the standard of a Madame Alexander or Effanbee doll (for those who remember them from a generation ago). Other little things like the abundance of stray threads, bits of glue in her hair, and the shoes that are so loose they fall off everywhere she goes added to the overall impression of slightly lax quality as well. None of these amounted to a big enough deal to return her - we both still love her - but do make me hesitate a little in purchasing other dolls from the line. My original intention was to buy the entire collection, but thought I would check one out first and I'm glad I did. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy another, but given my lowered expectations, I'm definitely thinking it over more carefully. I'm willing to pay a certain premium for the quality of the concept and design, but the production quality detracts somewhat from that value for me.
