Q: Hello. Does the 'grit' surface wear off or rub off easily, does the dirt settle noticeably, and can they be scrubbed with a brush when dirty? Thanks.

These have been in use on our steps for 1 year with no noticeable wear & they clean w/brush easily.

Q: Do these get hot in the sun to be uncomfortable to walk barefoot?

Im not sure about getting hot in the sun, but it is uncomfortable to walk on barefoot. I have it on my garage steps so it's inside, but it's uncomfortable to walk on barefoot.

Q: For outdoor wooden stairs in a Chicago climate, is it best to sand the stairs where the actual tread will be covering them for best adhesiveness?

I’m not an authority, but I just swept my wooden steps and positioned the treads. They lasted through two Alaskan winters until a snow shovel pulled a corner up.
