Great quality, HIGHLY recommended.
I bought the small tall exo terra terrarium planning to get an arboreal (climbing) gecko. I ended up getting the cheaper, easier leopard gecko which is a non arboreal species so it did not need the height this terrarium provides, but despite my changed decision this terrarium is still an amazing house for my pet. here is a list of pros and cons PROS Great ventilation system in the sides and top allowing fresh air to enter the terrarium freely Durable screen top made of metal that can support a heat light and any other things you need to keep out of the way. Quality glass doors that do not wiggle whatsoever and have a solid lock at the bottom. (they also have holes for a combination lock to fit through) Top panel includes a wire escape incase you need a humidifier or any other thing that has a cord that allows you to run the wires through small holes in the top (these holes are too small for any live food to escape through) Background looks great and makes the enclosure look neat and tidy Bottom section under the vents is water proof which is great for amphibians Has small support legs allowing you to stick heating pads to the bottom if needed. Is very spacious and allows for a multitude of decoration options. The design looks soooooo nice and the doors are just something you find with other brands. (looks the best if you clean it regularly) Shipping was good and package came on time with absolutely zero damage CONS The terrarium does not hold humidity well. (this problem can be fixed with an electric humidifier.) Background is made out of Styrofoam which may be a problem for some people Can be hard to find a floor mat to fit these dimensions This terrarium is pretty heavy and I would suggest you put it on a sturdy surface and not too high up (if this fell on someone it could be bad) overall this is a very high quality terrarium and is completely worth the money. Some accessories that you'll need to come along with this are mat/substrate, food and water dishes, heat lamp, decorator plants, vitamin supplements to sprinkle on your pets food, thermometer and humidity gauge, source of humidity (depending on your pet) and a heating pad (optional but recommended). My gecko loves this place (I think) and has never had any problems with it. Compared to terrariums I have had in the past this is the BEST ONE BY FAR. In some of my past terrarium experiences I've had problems with cracks and precipitation build up, this was not a problem with exo terra. Exo Terra has not disappointed and I will continue to by their products. A few last recommendations would be to settle on a pet before you buy and do your research to know what size and shape is best for your pet (Exo Terra is always a safe option if you want something you know is going to last)

Look no further for your Crested Gecko!
I heard that this is everyone's favorite terrarium for housing crested geckos so as a first-time crested gecko owner, I bought it and needless to say...I love it! Here are some important aspects of this product: 1. Waterproof bottom - this was important to me because crested geckos need a humid environment and I new I would be putting in a false bottom/drainage layer in mine. After a week of watering the plants and misting the whole tank on a daily basis, there are no leaks. 2. Humidity - it holds the humidity pretty well even with the screen ceiling. The humidity in my tank is currently reading at 70% even though I misted it 4 hours ago. Right now I am misting down the whole tank 1-2 times a day. If I put plastic wrap or bubble wrap over half of the ceiling it would probably hold the humidity even better but right now I can't complain so why change? 3. Escape-proof - trust me, the critters won't get out. Not even small insects like crickets or dubia roaches can escape. 4. Light but sturdy ceiling - it's some kind of metal or aluminum screen and my gecko hangs upside-down from it constantly but it hasn't broken. I even used fishing line to hang a coconut hide (from the ceiling's central bar for support) and it has held up perfectly. It's also completely removable and is locked into place with sliding locks. 5. Glass - To keep the glass clean and free from calcium/mineral deposits I only use distilled or filtered water on the tank and in my mister. This stuff is cheap and I get gallons of it for 39 cents at the local grocery store. 6. Nice 'n tall - Tall enough so that even with a drainage layer and Eco Earth on top of that, there is still plenty of space in the tank for my gecko to climb. 7. Front-opening glass doors - Crested Geckos (and I'm sure other types of geckos too) get spooked easily, especially when you reach in to grab them from above. Being able to reach in from the front is a life-saver, not just for handling the gecko but for setting up/planting/and maintenance in the tank as well! Both doors don't even have to be open at the same time. You can keep one shut and one open. 8. Raised bottom - if for some reason you had to heat the tank, you could put a heat mat underneath the tank with the raised bottom. I shouldn't have to do that with my crested gecko, however. This winter I will probably consider getting a bar/fixture to hang a heat-emitting bulb from above the tank. 9. Background - honestly, I was kind of expecting more from this background when I saw the pictures of this tank online. It looks like it could be made from plastic or some other sturdier material but it is just styrofoam. I'm not sure if there is sealant on it or not but it seems to absorb any water that is misted on it. It is still beautiful even in person but just not the kind of material I was expecting. My gecko seems to stick to it just fine with humidity at the proper levels but if the tank were to dry out, the gecko would probably have trouble sticking to it. I will probably take everything out of the tank in order to build my own background next year. 10. Weight of the tank - don't let its size (small-tall) fool you; this tank is pretty robust and it's not easy for one person to carry by themselves, especially up stairs. Don't expect to be moving this tank around very much once you get it. Find a place to keep it, set it up, and try to move it as little as possible. I knew it wouldn't be light but I also didn't realize it would be so heavy unfilled either. I don't want to know how heavy it is now that it's set up and planted but at least it's not as heavy as an aquarium of the same size with water weighing about 10 lbs per gallon! Overall, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect terrarium for my crested gecko. My complaints are very minor in the grand scheme of things. Customize it any way you like and have fun creating a paradise for your pet. This tank is sturdy, versatile, and has become a beautiful centerpiece in my home :)

Great for Snails!
I bought this as an upgrade to the 1.5 gallon cylinder thank I had been using to house common garden (globose dome) snails. The tank arrived well wrapped and undamaged. Opening the front doors and removing the top made wiping down the tank and setting it up very easy. The doors fit together nicely, with no gap between them and lock securely using the locking latch beneath the handles. The screen top also attaches securely, using four rotating lock mechanisms. There are two vent bars on top, behind where the screen attaches, that can be adjusted with sliding bars,to control airflow. Each vent bar is made of three circular holes, approximately the size of a pencil-top eraser which can be closed completely. The tank arrived with a styrofoam "rock" backdrop, which I removed. By removing the backdrop, I have four large viewing windows to easily monitor my snails. As the top screen is metal, it is difficult to see down into the tank, especially if there are overhead lights on. As a whole, I am very pleased with my purchase; it is perfect for snails (as I imagine it would be for other "insect-type" animals. I am not familiar with the needs of reptiles or amphibians and cannot directly comment on the tanks usefulness for housing those. I hope my description is somewhat helpful for those looking to purchase this tank for other animals.

solid design and improved screen tops
Great product. I have several (16) Exo Terra glass terrariums of all different sizes and have been using them since they hit the market a few years ago. Overall they are a great tank for most reptiles. I have used them for both desert and rain-forest setups and they perform admirably for both. The dual door design is super convenient for routine maintenance and feeding, it also helps contain quick animals looking to escape while your feeding. I have had no condensation issues even in very humid setups (many of my tanks are equipped with misting heads). Pros: 1. Cost (if you consider/utilize the many built in features) 2. Durability, my oldest tanks are about 3 years old and have held up well. The one exception is the old screen top securing tab design (see Other notes below). 3. Resevour size, I use a false bottom design in all my rain forest tanks and still have enough room for bedding materials and live plants. 4. Cord ports, i have two tanks with water filters running and the built in power cord ports work well. 5. Elevated feet, i use heat mats on certain tanks and the elevated feet keep the weight off the heat tape (weight on the heat tape can cause problems) Cons: 1. Back ground durability/function. I don't mind how the back grounds look...ok maybe they look a little cheap, but functionally speaking they are poor. Crickets climb them and escape or get behind them and hide. even if you block off the ports there is still a small ledge that is created between the screen top and the background that crickets love and never come down from, reptiles that can't climb won't be able to reach/eat them. If you routinely clean the Styrofoam, it will quickly fade, wear, and fall apart. I guess if you don't feed insects and wash them gently they may work well for a while. However, Mine get thrown out with the box it arrived in. 2. Cord port and sliding port cover still leaves a small gap in the back of the tank. Smaller crickets and reptiles are able to escape. I keep the cord port covers closed and silicone the gap behind the sliding cover to eliminate any escape routes. 3. I have had some corrosion of the wire mesh screen tops, mostly in my humid setups. The screen looks easy enough to replace if and when they wear out. 4. Smaller tank sizes don't have adequate room to properly light an enclosure for reptiles/plants needing UVB/basking lamp/full spectrum lighting. (new dual light hood options from Exo-Terra are on the market which may help solve this problem for small tanks, but not the nano tanks. Plus they seem very pricey yet Exo Terra Dual Top 24-Inch Canopy for Exo Terra Terrariums PT2610 and PT2612 ). Other: 1. The newest Exo-Terra tank design utilizes a new fastening design for the screen tops, so far i have not had a problem with the new design and it seems to be a positive improvement. The old screen tops were held in place with plastic push tabs which would fatigue and break if seeing even limited use. 2. The frame is all plastic and doesn't seem particularly strong. I keep waiting for it to snap or crack when i'm cleaning or moving them, but they haven't yet...

... for a few days now and so far so good. Just FYI
I've had the 18x18x24 set up for a few days now and so far so good. Just FYI: it is heavy! I had to get it to my second floor and now it basically has to stay there until I die. Packaging was fine and it arrived via FedEx in perfect condition and ahead of schedule. I'm using this size for 2 anoles (who have a history of procreation and there is plenty of room for a few more). I'm sure each set up varies slightly.... my background is super snug. Which means it stays in place well, but was tough to even move slightly to help get tubing behind. I was afraid if I used too much effort, I would break it. I love the dimensions of it and the front entrance... no more moving lamps to get in! I wasn't sure if the sticky feet of anoles would work on the foam background, but they latch on just fine! There's plenty of room in the bottom for more than one brick of EE and I'll be able to add a false bottom eventually. It is a little tough to keep the humidity up, but I plan to invest in a monsoon also. The door latch seems very solid, though I'm also utilizing the lock holes because I have a very interested young cat. I love the spots in the top for allowing tubing and wires in. Right now, I'm mostly feeding calci worms and other worms in a bowl, so I don't yet know how crickets may fair in this set up. I'm very happy with this purchase so far and *might* invest in a smaller one for travel purposes. ETA: I picked up a 2 pack of hitch pins from Walmart for less than a dollar, and it's perfect for the lock holes. Just take care in inserting and removing since the door handles are plastic. Gives me peace of mind that there is NO way my cat can open the doors.

Love this terrarium
I purchased this tank (18x18x24) as an upgrade from the 18x18x18 that I've had for the past year. I use it for hermit crabs (3 small and one medium) and slope the substrate so it's nice and deep for them at the back (roughly 8-9"). While the length and width of the new one is the same as the old, this one gives CONSIDERABLE more height ( I swear, it SEEMS Like its twice the height, but i KNOW its not!), which enables me to build multiple levels to give them more room. I prefer this style tank to a fishtank because I'm short so, having the doors open from the front makes it MUCH easier for me to access for food, cleaning, rearranging, etc. and, for the space I have (or rather, don't have) this or a tall tank is my only option, I can't go any wider (sadly). as compared to the 18x18x18 tank, the depth from the base to the front air vent is 5" compared to 3", making it so I can start deeper - and end deeper on the back of the tank. a note about the screen top: If your tank has a high humidity to keep its residents happy, it WILL rust - that's just common sense. The top for my original tank has some rust on it (not terribly bad) and is still quite strong- which my cat appreciated since it was her preferred spot to lay :/ The latches are plastic. The ones on my original tank are still holding strong and have not broken. The door latch you do have to use SOME force with, but use common sense. the doors have to be perfectly flush to lock closed. If you use a UTH for heat, you HAVE to watch the temp. it can very quickly heat the substrate too hot (for hermit crabs, attach it to the side of the tank instead, and still monitor). My tank held humidity fine, but (again, common sense) you have to put a cover over the screen to do so. You could use most anything. I use plastic sheeting. Some people use plexiglass. anything will work. Do not try to use the styrofoam backing with hermit crabs. again, common sense is not always so common. I didn't want to see the wall behind the tank and put an aquarium backer on the outside and it looks great. My new tank was shipped via amazon, we have prime, I received the tank in 2 days via fedex, and it was VERY well packaged and nothing broken.
