The only choice if you need to depend on your thread repair.
This is the only thread replacement solution that allows original torque as the undamaged threads, as it's a solid metal sleeve, not a coil of wire that can distort and pull out under extreme conditions. The quality of the kit is superb, just as I remember in 16+ years as a motorcycle tech, and even on exhausts studs, they act just like the original threads. Would never use a Heli-Coil when a Time-Sert is available. Superior solution.Pros: can be torqued to same as original spec. Easy to install. Not affected by high heat or axial/radial load as a Heli-Coil will.Cons: Eye-watering price... but it includes all the installation tools. Buying inserts later is much more affordable. You get what you pay for in this product.

Perfect fit, easy install, highly recommend
Bought a used car and in the first couple days I did an oil change and found the drain bolt was almost completely stripped. A lot of people say a helicoil is fine and in certain situations, I'd agree, but a time sert is a much more effective and long term solution for many situations including an oil pan repair. The time sert sleeve is designed to slightly deform on installation and lock itself in place providing a permanent fix capable of handling original torque specs and allows you to continue using original sized hardware so there's no mismatched pieces to keep track of down the road. The kit is very easy to use and installation is almost impossible to mess up. Took about 15 minutes to do the repair and I haven't had any leakage. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on a time sert. Do the job once and have that peace of mind knowing the repair is safe and sound.

Life saver
I have now used this product in two different sizes to repair the threads of the oil pan drain holes on two different cars that I have owned. The previous owners used to take the cars to quick lube places that over tightened the drain plugs and stripped out the oil pans as a result. The first time I looked into getting an oil pan repaired I was quoted about $400 for oil pan replacement. This kit fixed the problem for a little over a quarter that price, and the repair that it produces is stronger than a brand new oil pan anyway so you can't go wrong with it! It still seems a little expensive for what it is, but it's a lot cheaper than the alternative so I can't complain.

2007 FJ Cruiser front caliper mounting threads.
The media could not be loaded. Had both threads that mout the front driver caliper on my wife's 2007 FJ Cruiser strip out and needed to be repaired. I looked into to helicoils but decided not to because I've read that since the caliper will be coming off and on due to maintenance, the helicoils might strip out.The hole process was simple as straight forward just follow the instructions. WD40 for the tap and engine oil for the insertion tool. I will however recommend a "Tap Socket" to hold the tap and drill bit. My Milwaukee M12 drill chuck was not deep enough to hold the bits and tap so it kept slipping in the chuck due to it not grabbing enough of the shaft.

awesome product
worked awesome. fixed the hole where my lower control arm mounts to the car. only complaint i have is that 2 of the cutting teeth on the counterbore tool broke off after one use. and the security seal in the case was cut when it arrived but all the parts were there and brand new

Must have for thread repair.
I used this to sort out two wallered out transmission mount holes on the back side of a Honda Civic motor. The previous owners had left two entirely stripped out bolts in the holes, to make it look like something was in there. This allowed for the whole motor to pivot on the other bolt causing these to get ovaled out.I was able to get the hole drilled out and the time sert installed. The fit in the hole wasn't perfect due to the oval shape of it, but I didn't want to go a bolt size up as that would cause me to have to machine the mount, and there's no way to fill the hole with the motor in the car. I used some green loctite to keep them in though, so they shouldn't budge.Yes the kit is pricey especially if you're coming from the world of helicoil, but time sert is to helicoil what an actual weld is to jb weld. One will get you by in a pinch, the other is a proper repair. I will be adding other size repair kits to my tools collection as demand requires.
