This product does exactly as the seller describes. It mutes just enough of the vibrations to make a difference. When I practice my trumpet, no longer is the chandelier ringing after my last note. I have seen some reviews complaining about the level of dampening this mute offers. It does not have a full cork ring. It is still noticeable. It will still be “loud”. If you want full dampening, you need to purchase a version that seals the horn fully with a full cork or leather ring. Air vibrations will get out past the airways that are still open with this version and you will still hear your practicing child in their room. I find it hard to believe that people with the most information at their fingertips still don’t understand how air vibrations work. Horns are instruments that amplify vibrations and are designed to make noise. Dampeners work to mitigate these vibrations and lessen the intensity of the noise. This product works exactly as it should and personally I am very pleased with it. I recommend this mute to anyone that wants a slight decrease in noise intensity.

Good quality Wah-Wah mute.

It gets the job of a straight mute done, but the timbre is honestly not the best and would probably invest in a higher quality straight mute. Also the durability did not last long and completely collapsed after about a year and a half.
