Mists of Pandaria: Official Strategy Guide (World of Warcraft)

Great book which is obviously outdated now in some aspects but I knew that upon purchase. Its not really fair to low rate it as some have done due to older info. If you play the game you know its every changing and updating quickly. They've have to put out a new edition every few weeks/months to keep up. Much of the underlying basics are the same however and it's very nicely illustrated. I have the full set of this series for each expansion and love em. I will continue to buy them as new expansions come out. Don't plan on actually eating with the chopsticks... they are pretty but slick coated glossy and won't grab onto any food. I've been playing WoW for many, many years, and ended up getting this for the chopsticks. Yes - I'm that lame. However, I ended up regifting the book to my best friend, who is extremely casual and doesn't know much about the game. She has found it extremely helpful. In addition, the artwork and screenshots are very well laid out, and the guide is very easy to follow in general. Sure, the information in books like this becomes outdated, but given that it does not go indepth with things that change often (it does not go into class mechanics but gives a general introduction to "This is what this Spec from this Class does", and it does not go over boss mechanics but gives a brief explanation of different dungeons) but I think they've done a great job at making the game a little bit more accessible. Overall 5 stars for the great binding and artwork in the book - it's very sturdily made and looks great.

Just a quick reply to say that this book is awesome. I had a $20 coupon code from a customer service issue, so I thought that I'd pick this up to get the chopsticks for my WoW collection and to have a cool book to stick next to all my collector's edition boxes. Now that I've had a chance to look over it, I'm very impressed. The battle pet listing was worth the price alone, not to mention having a physical copy of all the specs in game so when I'm giving advice to guildmates, I can check and make sure I give the exact spell info without having to switch characters. It went from a book I planed on using for display to a book that I've used several times. I only have 2 at 90 now b/c I've been lazy, but with 15 other 85s to finish leveling, this book will be a well-loved companion in time =)

This guide is an all-in-one guide to the game, starting from elementary gameplay to advanced tips on the Pandaria content. The artwork makes it worthy of having it bound in hardcover so it doesn't sag on a bookshelf and stays open as a reference book much better than a softbound. The chopsticks included have actual quality lacquer feel to them, and not some cheap wood or plastic construction. They appear to be dishwasher safe (mine have gone through a cycle without losing their intricate artwork). If you want a keepsake to enjoy at the dinner table while enjoying asian cuisine and as well another keepsake to remind you of the beauty of the new continent and content of Mists of Pandaria, this is a recommended buy.

I enjoyed this book, not because any of the information in it was important, but but because the artwork was fun to have and its an interesting read. It might be very good for newer players or very casual players who want to become more hardcore, but the information is slightly outdated (although the general strategies have been relatively unchanging the last couple years) and its relatively brief and inspecific. Newer and more specific information can be found on a number of sites for free, including Icy Veins and Noxxic, so I would recommend those for people who want the latest and greatest. For people who are collectors, or like the artwork and nostalgia of having a tangible description of the game and how its played, or want a neat pair of chopsticks, I would recommend this purchase.

The Pandaren chopsticks included alone probably makes this book well worth the price. But the book is also seriously awesome, excellent descriptions, great and intimate attention to detail, and a truly fantastic diversity of game-related illustrations and maps designed to help both amateur and experienced players alike!

This is an excellent Guide! Pandaria was a new Continent and everything within it was noted in the Guide. A Must for new Players and everyone else who benefits by a handheld Book. I for one love the fact that I can stay ingame and just look up my question about a World or its Content. No Strategy but tons of good info for the "Mists of Pandaria".

This review is for the product and in no way reflects the quality of gameplay in the MoP expansion. I purchased the collector's edition for my girlfriend for Christmas last year and she really loves it. I'd already upgraded her to the MoP expansion when it was released, but she really likes having a physical copy so it seemed like a good deal. When I saw it was heavily discounted for the holidays I had to pick it up. She especially enjoyed the behind-the-scenes disc and the books (some great artwork can be found in both). I will say that the game guide was already pretty dated due to patches and tweaks made in the game, but it's still a pretty nice addition to the set.
