Make sure you measure neck pocket and know neck heal measurement before ordering.
Did not fit without rerouting the neck pocket on the bass body. Heal of neck is tapered.

No pilot holes!! Buyer beware
Don’t buy this unless you have the time and skill, or know someone with the skill, to do some wood work. The neck came with ZERO pilot holes pre-drilled. Now, I have to measure, and drill my new neck just to get my bass back together. Also, the tuning machine holes are not the same size as my old neck, therefore my machine bushings won’t fit unless I drill out the holes on the new head. Waaaaay more work than I wanted to deal with at this point. This is all stuff I can do on my own, so I’m not too worried. Just pisses me off that they cut corners so now it’s more work for me. Plus side, the scorched maple is gorgeous. Well, time to get out the drill.....

Great neck
I bought this neck for a custom Jazz build. It's very nice, but much darker than the picture shows online. Closer to a Pau Ferro color, I'll need to get used to that. Definitely a stand-out look though, and that is what I was hoping for.Install was real easy. You do have to cut the nut and drill pilot holes for your tuners (each tuner brand is different), but other than that it was good to go. I had a difficult time with intonation on the E string, but I got it close enough. I did a very slight truss bar adjustment, but I probably didn't even need to do that. Overall it's great, very easy to play.

Great neck with a little DIY
Neck is beautiful and arrived in great condition. Be aware that there are no pilot holes for tuners but this allows you to use any tuner you choose. My old tuners did not fit the holes in the headstock so I had to get new ones. The holes in this neck are 11/16". I got the Hipshot Ultralites 1/2" Cloverleaf, and they fit great. There is also no hole for the string retainer. I used my old neck as a reference. The location varies somewhat it seems.

Burnt on Roasted Maple
Want to share my experience with this neck. I did not buy through Amazon, but Musicians Friend. I have a 60s MIM J reissue and neck had warped. I previously put a roasted maple neck on my strat and loved it so much (it is a fantastic neck of exceptional quality) I thought let's do it for the J bass. Neck came and so I began taking tuning machines off old one. The bushings were too big (I was surprised as other reviews mentioned they were too small). So i called Fender and they told me I needed the bushings for modern MIM bass necks and gave me a part number. I ordered, they came and were also too big. I sent neck back and asked for a replacement. Did research while waiting and it seemed the Highway One tuning machines were what was needed. Ordered those. New neck came and same issue, all bushings too big. Called Fender back, and during the discussion the dude went through the specs and said tuning key holes were drilled to .374 and H1 bushings were .378. Said Fender didn't make .374. Said he'd look into and call back. Spoke to him next day and all he said was a coworker recently put those in a roasted bass neck and it was hard and took him a long time but he eventually got them in. I tried, and after much tapping could not get the first one in flush to the wood. Nor could get it out. Sent back to MF. We'll see what happens. But here is some basic math: Neck = 329, tuning keys (if you can fit them) = 40 - 80, nut files = 80 - 100, or nut replacement = 120 (part and labor if not doing yourself). Oh yeah, and about 60 for a tuning key hole reamer if you can find one. So you're basically getting to the price of an American neck with tuners already installed on Stratosphere.com. So that's what I did. And I love it. I love roasted maple, and if I hadn't had the tuning key holes/bushings issue, would have gone that route, but very happy with the American hassle-free neck from Stratosphere.
