My go to wedding gift
The illustrations are fun, the recipes are easy but most importantly, have great flavor, and it's a beautiful book as a decoration.

Terrific Recipes, Fun Read, Beautifully Illustrated
"The Picnic..." is filled with new and delightful recipes and ideas to make you the envy of fellow picnic goers. The writing is light, witty, and informative of picnic etiquette and know how, while gorgeous illistrations grace the pages. I bought a copy for myself and each recipe I have tested is one I will make again. It also makes a lovely gift - I have already gifted three copies! (And for the record, the tip about the standard picnic table size has saved me trips to the park with my measuring tape!)

Beautiful book!
I can’t wait to try out some of the recipes this spring! This book is beautifully illustrated with helpful pointers. I will most likely purchase the authors other books as well.

A Gem for Picnickers!
I really love the concept of this book--all about picnics. The artwork is simple, charming, and inspiring. The cover itself is a treat for book lovers. The menus, notes, suggestions, and recipes are lovely and sophisticated but not complicated. The authors are part of the Portland Picnic Society, so they really enjoy picnics and it shows. I only wish the authors would publish a sister cookbook for those of us who are vegan and gluten free. Most of the recipes contain dairy, meat, eggs, gluten, or fish, so I gave this book to my mother who eats all of those foods. And she loves it! I highly recommend this book to omnivores everywhere!

AMAZING!!!
This book is worth ten times its weight in actual gold. I made a recipe already, and it was DELICIOUS and easy to follow. I'd never made a quiche in my life and now I've made 12 perfectly delicious ones! The best part is that this ISN'T JUST RECIPES! It's fully planned themed picnics of varying effort to make, it's how to package and transport and display foods when you get done making them. It's drinks and desserts and salads and meals. It's cute ways to display things, portion sizes for the number of guests. I thought I would be getting one of those cookbooks with a few good things in it and a whole lot I would never use, but I want to try almost EVERY recipe! Especially if they're even half so good as the quiche.

Enjoyable Read and Clever Recipes
Got this last night and read it all the way through it in one sitting. Beautiful cover, cute and quirky illustrations, and Portland of course! I like the wide variety of meatless or almost-so dishes, and easy-sounding (to me, anyway) takes on things like quick pickled veggies and salads on a stick, which cracked my husband up, right before he asked if we could make the 'potato salad' one for lunches. I even got two or three good tips in general right away, like using a pizza cutter to cut pita bread for chips; and multiple clever uses for the various sized mason jars I've accumulated. I also enjoyed the section on making and bottling your own drinks; we are beer people and empty bottles and a manual bottle capper are super easy to obtain. Overall it was a fun read and I'm looking forward to trying the recipes.

I love this book
I love this book! It’s more than a cookbook, it has a ton of great tips and ideas for pulling off a perfect picnic. There are no photos but the drawings are really cute and get the idea across. I can’t wait to try these out!
