Best Over the Calf Dress Sock
The Gold Toe brand remains one of the best quality options. The quality and feel of the Canterbury is second to none and I've worn lots of dress socks over the year. The Canterbury Canterbury (60% cotton / 40% nylon) is comfortable and cool during the summer / warm during the winter. Although during the winter I do sometimes like to pair it with a silk undersock for extra warmth. The Over the Calf Dress sock is classy and secure (stays up with no hassle) for the business and environment and the regular Canterbury (not over the calf) is cool and comfortable for more casual settings.

way too big for small (size 9) feet
The product description says these socks are for shoe sizes 7-12. I wear size 9, and these socks are much too big for me. These socks do seem to be of good quality, but I'll be returning them.

They will stay up but they are very long and tight
I am on a mission to find the perfect dress sock that will stay up all day long. I bought a 3 pack of these in Navy. They are very long. I would suggest you only buy these if you are at least 6 feet tall (which I am not - I am 5'10). They reach my knees and bunch up in the back of my knee. They are scratchy and tight. But - they do stay up, all day long.My mission continues until I can find a sock that is both comfortable and stays up all day.

Extremely tight elastic at the top.
Gold Toe makes good socks, and I've always found them to be well made and fit well. These socks, however, are an exception. Although they are well made and fit well in the foot and in the length, the elastic at the top is way too tight. I am 5' 8", weigh 158, wear a size 9 shoe and do not have large calves. The tight elastic at the top is very uncomfortable and leaves marks.

A wardrobe staple
I wear these socks every day to work and it is hard to find anything bad to say about them. They create a sharp, professional look (no exposed calf) and stay up all day even though I spend a lot of time walking and standing. Pants drape normally, as opposed to the Metropolitan line which creates quite a bit of static cling and will cause your wool pants to stick. I am 5'9", wear a size 9 shoe and have relatively thin calves and these socks fit perfectly. They are also quite durable, showing some wear at the heel only after years of use. I have not found them to fade despite repeated washing but the shade does vary slightly from pack to pack, if you own numerous pairs as I do you might have to spend a little time sorting them.

World's greatest sock?
It took me until age 47 until I really started to pay attention to my socks. I've always hated the drooping ankle-sock, showing skin with legs crossed look.. So I went on a mission to find a great, affordable over the calf and this is it. Fully stocked my sock drawer with 12 pairs in black, that's all I really need for work or leisure. The quality and comfort (they go up over your calf and STAY there...no bare ankles showing on me!) are exemplary. Next I'm going to try the athletic sock version of these, Gold Toe makes great stuff.

They are a preposterously terrible value. The Metropolitan Gold Toe Socks I have ...
These socks fall apart extremely quickly. The elastic at the top and the stitching was coming apart on all the socks within two months. My calves are average size. They are a preposterously terrible value. The Metropolitan Gold Toe Socks I have have fared much better over time.

Socks have been unravelling since the first wash...
The fit and comfort of these is fine. I would rate them higher except for one problem: THey began unraveling beginning the first time I washed them. And it happened with all three pairs in the set. Every time they are washed there are more of the elastic, white strings coming out from the middle of the socks up to the top. They still stay up, but the tops are beginning to feel loose. THe toes, and heelss are fine, but they will never last as long as they shouold due to the threads coming out. I bought a pack of three Gold Toe Metropolitan and it is not happening with them. I'd go with those instead of these.

Highly Recommended
If you want socks that stay up all day then look no further. Comfortable and do the job brilliantly. I'm a size 7 and they fit perfectly.
