No Drivers Needed - Windows XP
I run an industrial protocol simulator on an old Pentium 3 PC.This card recognized with no issues and adds USB 2.0 speed to my machine. Super stable, I run a USB to 485 adapter and many other USB accessories unattended on this machine for 16 hours every single day. No connection drops, no issues. Super happy with this purchase.

Would be 5 if they included name of chipset
Just so you know, as of 3-2-2025, this card has an NEC chipset for usb 2.0. This is mostly important because I had previously bought a usb card with a VIA chipset and it did not work at all in my Pentium 2 motherboard from 1997. Vintage computing forums online said to find a card with an NEC chipset, which this has. But they don't list it anywhere in the product description, so I had to find out what chip it was using other methodsBut when it arrived, it was a NEC chip. Plugged it straight in and it works like a charm. Recommended if you have an older system that is fussy with what PCI cards do and dont work in it.

Still has an NEC chipset in 2025. Good!
This card still has an NEC chipset and has an original PCI bus. This makes it perfect for older / retro computers from 1993-2002 or so. For those that don’t know, the NEC chipset is THE most compatible USB chipset for older computers and versions of Windows, Linux, and MacOS. Used this on an old PowerMac 7500/100 (CPU has been upgraded of course) with MacOS 9 and it worked perfectly. Plan on getting a few more for older vintage Windows machines. Runs USB 2.0 with no problem and doesn’t require drivers for most OS’es so installation is simple. Highly recommended.

Does not work correctly on Dell Dimension E-310 Win XP SP 3
Good news, and bad news when using this in a Dell Dimension E-310 Win XP SP 3Good news: Installed, and Win XP easily identified the device and installed the drivers. I did not try the internal USB port, but all 4 of the external ones worked just fine.Bad news: I don't use my speakers often, so when I finally tried to listen to a music CD, I found that none of my sound ports worked after I installed this card.Solution: I removed this card, and installed a sound card (CMI8738 PCI Sound Card). Once I loaded the drivers, my sound worked again. When I reinstalled this card, the 4 USB ports wouldn't work at all.
