Positive Discipline for Children with Special Needs: Raising and Teaching All Children to Become Resilient, Responsible, and Respectful

This book has been a helpful resource for us. I loaned it to our daughter's teacher, and she liked it so much that she convinced the school's Principal to purchase four copies so that other teachers could read and reference it. I recently purchased a second copy to donate to the school district's Family Resource Center, so that other parents of special needs kiddos could have access to it.

Found the book is brimming with practical examples of how the principles of Positive Discipline can be integrated into my parenting. I found it helpful that the examples and focus was on children with special needs although the principles can be applied to all kids.The concepts that are explained are many and I'm going to have to reread it or at least delve into certain chapters again to make it part of my life. No simplistic answers offered here. It's more about a whole way of seeing children than learning a new method.

I wish I read this book when I was in grad school! The "Mistaken Goal Chart" alone is worth the price. It really gave me pause to rethink difficult student behaviors and the beliefs that drive those behaviors. More importantly, it challenged me to respond in more effective ways. All children, including children with special needs such as those associated with autism, want to belong and feel significant. I am a big fan of the positive discipline series. I could not put this book down and I read it from cover to cover when i received it from amazon. The book for me was thought provoking and insightful. I learned new tools to use with my kids and had a better understanding of the brain and executive functioning. I highly recommend this book for any parent that is looking for ways to encourage their children with special needs.

We heard about Positive discipline and wanted to know more to pass onto educational teachers for our daughter with Down's Syndrome.

This is a good book,but a lot of the techniques in it I have already tried,so for me it wasn't very helpful!

This book offered many good solutions to common problems and ehlped me refocus my attention in a more positive direction.

User friendly, clear and succinct. Arms parents with logical tools that instill belongingness and significance. Parents learn their children's mistaken goals and how to approach misbehaviours and/or self defeating thoughts. Very pleased!

J'ai reçu aujourd'hui le livre que j'avais commandé : Positive Discipline for children with special needs" et je dois dire que je suis assez mécontente : la livraison annoncée à 0.01€ sur le site Amazon.fr s'est transformée en ... 8€ de frais de Poste et 3€ de frais de douane !!! Je trouve scandaleux que ces frais ne soient pas annoncés sur le site Amazon.frCe livre de Jane Nelsen est axé sur la DP appliquée aux enfants à besoins éducatifs particuliers. Après 4 chapitres de présentation de la DP (grille des buts erronés, temps de pause positif, etc....), elle présente le cas d'un enfant particulier par chapitre : enfnat autiste, enfant né de mère droguée, enfant abandonné, enfant malentendant etc. Elle montre comment les outils de la DP peuvent être appliqués pour chaque enfant. Un livre inspirant comme le sont tous les livres de Discipline Positive.

Muy util para adaptar la disciplina positiva a niños cn NEE. Me ha dado una vision amplia y muy tranquiñizadora de cara a afrontar los retos diarios con mi hijo. Calma y firmeza. Lo malo, no hay traduccion del ingles

El libro es muy bueno, pero pongo una mala opinión porque llegó mal. Supongo que está mal editado de fábrica, faltaban un grupo de páginas en su interior.

If you haven't tried positive discipline, it's a great time to start!! It works as great in the house as in the classroom. Great way to educate happy children and help them express their feelings and be a great part of the community.. You won't regret buying this book.... Hands up to Jane Nelsen!!!Book came in on time and in great conditions.
