Great unit, highly recommend it, works with Samsung 8+.
I recently started wearing hearing aids and no longer can use the ear piece Bluetooth. Austin is a hands free city, I had to find an alternate Bluetooth speaker. I purchased this unit and it works GREAT! The incoming voice is really crisp and clear and the outgoing voice is clear on the recipients end. I just purchased a new Samsung 8+ and it was very simple to pair the two together. My sister purchased a new SUV last year which has a built in Bluetooth speaker, not much telling how much that option cost. When I have ridden with her, I had a hard time understanding incoming calls, as well as when I have talk to her. This Motorola runs circles around her built in one, way, way better. When your talking on the Motorola Sonic Rider Bluetooth and you get another call coming in, you can answer it, it will put you first call on hold. I highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a hands free speaker.

Sonic Rider tx550
Works great love to talk on this unit sound quality very good, the battery last a long time. Just remember if you are anywhere close I mean even if you park in the drive way and go in the house and still have the sonic rider on the blue tooth is so strong that all calls go to the sonic rider which makes you think your phones not working but it is because the phone is still paired up with the sonic rider. Example I get home go inside see my phone ring can't hear it but i see it I press answer and can't hear anyone on the phone this is because the phone is speaking through the sonic rider in my truck. Also I go to make a call and nobody answers me on my phone in the house, this is because I'm still paired up to the truck. hope this helps, And this a very good hands free device I would recomened it to anyone.

Almost Great Product
So far it's been working alright. It was easy to pair up and you can hear it pretty well. The only thing is that if someone else is using an in-car bluetooth speaker and you tried talking to them while using this device, it would sound like a loud train and it would be impossible to hear them. Any other time if they were using a speaker on their phone or just the phone itself to call you, then you can hear them fine.

Just "OK" as a Bluetooth phone speaker, and not as good as previous Motorola generation
I have used - and loved - an earlier generation of a Motorola bluetooth speaker for at least 6 years of hands-free phone use while driving. Its battery final resisted recharging, and I looked for this unit as its replacement. But perhaps "you get what you pay for" applies? This was less expensive, but I've found in just a few weeks of use that it is less effective, too, and I would not opt to purchase it again - and instead go for a more expensive and hopefully higher-quality alternative. Specifically, the sound quality is not great. I've had to put the volume up to maximum to hear on even quiet roads, and I struggle to hear on rougher roads. The control to turn on the unit is on the side, it is more difficult to find when driving, and there isn't a light or indicator that it is on. The older unit had a convenient small red/blue light, and it was easier to press one button to connect to a call, or initiate one. This new one requires a LONG press to initiate a call, and it seems to lag to let you know with a tone that you were successful. Overall, this will do the job if low cost is your primary concern.

Didn't last, and only turned on sometimes
Speaker and mic worked great, but the device would not connect automatically to phone. I had to turn it of and back on and do the same with teh bluetooth feature on my phone in order for them to recognise each other. A real pain to do every time I got in and out of my car! Also, there's no light to indicate that it's charging or not when it's plugged in. you just have to take it on fatih. After only 6 months, it stopped charging at all. I tried different cords, different charging outlets - nothing. Now it's useless, and beyond its warrantee. Worst $50 ever. I had another Motorola Bluetooth (more expensive model) before, and it was great. Lasted for years. Lesson learned. Buy the more expensive one next time. Update: Motorola offered to replace it for free, I only had to pay shipping costs. Fine. For a few $$ I'll give it a try and maybe the one I had was just a dud. Nope. Same issues as before, and now it's only been a month and AGAIN it won't charge. I've contacted Motorola Custome Service AGAIN, and this time I'll be asking for either an upgrade, or a refund.

Very impressive bluetooth wireless in car speaker!
I have an older Porsche which I love, but I got spoiled with the wireless Bluetooth phone speakers in my wife's car. I bought this very inexpensive wireless Bluetooth speaker for my car with very little expectation since it costs so little. I can now hands free like I do in my wife's car and since the Porsche is a little noisier inside than most cars, there is very little background noise reported from the people I phone in the car. I asked them if they can hear me ok and is there any engine noise> They say they can tell I am on a speaker phone, but it sounds ok and no distortion or background noise. Don't know how they did this for $19.95. Has a car charger plug to recharge, but don't need to charge it very often. i know most new cars have Bluetooth speaker phones, but if you have an oldie but goodie that you are driving, this is the way to go. It is very small and slides on your sun visor and is not a distraction. Can even use my little sun visor in my Porsche with no problem.

A lot to improve
I got this as a replacement for the Jabra Tour that was not compatible with my Nexus 4 phone. Since Motorola mobile is a Google company I thought that the Sonic Rider would pair nicely to my Google Nexus 4. The Sonic Rider is a very basic speakerphone. It is not going to read your text messages, stream to your FM radio, or turn on automatically when it senses your presence. It has an on/off switch, buttons to mute, increase/decrease volume, and a button to activate phone calls. That's it. I knew this was a very basic speakerphone when I purchased it. What is most important is the device's performance. Lets see how it stacks up: Pros * Battery life - Motorola claims 45 hours of usage and 5 months standby time. I have used the device almost daily for 2 months and the battery is still going strong. * Car charger - you get a simple but nice Motorola car charger. It's the same model as the #1 best seller in Amazon car chargers listed as "Motorola Vehicle Power Adapter micro-USB Rapid Rate Charger". ... and that concludes the pros. Things that are "OK" - neither pros or cons * Reconnecting to phone - to reconnect you must push the "receiver" button twice. As I had mentioned, the Sonic Rider will not automatically sense when you have entered the car and reconnect. You must do this manually. Every time. It doesn't bother me as my Jabra Tour had the auto-reconnect feature but it didn't work 50% of the time. Cons * Speaker audio quality - spoken words are a bit muffled and there is definitely a lack of audio range. Similar to listening to a Skype call on tiny laptop speakers with the treble turned down. The speaker distorts when the volume is set high. * Microphone performance - In my opinion this is the most important. What use is a speakerphone if the party you are talking to cannot understand you? The microphone is useless when traveling over 35 mile per hour. On the receiving end people complain of muffled and clipped words and high amounts of background noise. I have a hard time getting voice commands to work due to the poor microphone. I have tested in a Subaru Legacy, Toyota Camry, and Toyota Rav4. Unless you have a very quiet vehicle or only talk while driving really slow, the microphone is a dud and completely ruins the device for me. * Buttons - the four primary buttons all feel the same. This forces me to take my eyes of the road and look at the buttons to use them. Dangerous! Motorola needs to brush up on ergonomics. * Power-off ping - when sliding the on/off switch to "off" the Sonic Rider emits a very loud "ping!" chime. The chime volume is not adjustable. The first time I powered down the unit I discovered the chime is loud enough to wake sleeping children in the car. * Voice prompts - The audio for the digitized voice prompts are low resolution which makes the prompts sound fuzzy. This is more of an annoyance than anything. It makes the device sound cheap. * No support - The Sonic Rider is not listed on Motorola's support website. Overall the Sonic Rider is a disappointment and I would not recommended it. I think Motorola has the ability to create great devices but with the Sonic Rider they really dropped the ball. (Tested with an LG Google Nexus 4 running Android 4.3)

I am pleased with this gadget
As others have said here: great battery life - I have had it on for a 65 mile commute every day for a month now and it still says" battery level high" when I turn it on. Instant 'pairing' - turn it on and it acknowledges connection with my iPhone 5. My wife, who refuses to talk to me when I'm on speakerphone even when I'm not driving, says the sound on her end is fine. And she is always right. My end is clear with plenty of volume for an old guy that can't bring himself to buy hearing aids. The only issue I have had is with voice dialing. I tried it with siri on and off. But for some reason when I say "call Joe Smith" it immediately replies "calling Fred Jones" and I have to hurry up and cancel before I bother Fred. It might be my low voice. It might be my rather large address book (hundreds). Or it might be Apple, no no, not Apple. But everything else works so well it still gets 5 stars. And the price is right.
