An excellent book on the origins of the Reiki system of universal healing.
As someone who is a Reiki master I have attempted to read everything possible related to energy healing and specifically Reiki methods and techniques to improve my knowledge and healing skills.I just finished reading this fascinating 189 page soft cover book (Light on the origins of Reiki: A handbook for practicing the original Reiki of Usui and Hayashi by Tadao Yamaguchi) which I purchased on Amazon for a bargain price. Each of the many books I have read on Reiki has their own special methods and focus. This book explained clearly the pure Japanese Reiki approach taught initially by Dr. Usui and Hayashi. This very interesting and informative book is organized into seven chapters.Chapter one covers information on Jikiden Reiki explaining various aspects of the way Reiki is taught in Japan and the west. Chapter two focuses on the author’s family and Reiki. Chapter three provides basic Reiki knowledge. Chapter four is about the birth place of Reiki, Japan. Chapter five explains the practical application of Reiki. Chapter six covers how Jikiden Reiki is taught. The final chapter has feedback from Jikiden Reiki students, which I found interesting and informative. If you are into the universal healing art of Reiki you should check out this book.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Chair/Seated Tai Chi, Qigong and Yoga for seniors and the physically challenged.

Amazing history
This little book taught me more about the original practice of Reiki than all of my years of study and practice. Now I want to go to Japan to learn more.

The History of Reiki
In February 2011 I had the pleasure of attending a workshop of Jikiden Reiki for non-Japanese speakers by Tadao Yamaguchi Sensei. I am already a Reiki practitioner and teacher (Western Reiki) and Tadao Sensei became one of my teachers. I love the gentleness of his character and the accuracy of his teaching. This book is a wonderful book for both those who know Reiki already and those who don't. It explains clearly the history of Reiki, how it came to be, its founder and its first teachers and practitioners, from the perspective of someone who took Reiki back then and who practiced it her entire life (Tadao's mother, Chyoko Yamaguchi). It also explains many points that are misunderstood in the West and presents Reiki in a straight forward way, clean and depurated. I strongly recommend this book to all those who study, practice or are just attracted by Reiki.

Highly reccomended to all Reiki practitioners
This book is an authentic glimpse into Japanese Reiki received through Hayashi sensei as preserved by the Yamaguchi family. I highly reccomend this book for its authenticity and insight into how Reiki was practiced in Japan after Usui-sensei began to spread his teachings in a more formalized manner.Light on the Origins of Reiki is an excellent guide to the practitioner, and it provides numerous historic photographs, explanations of the effects of Japanese culture and history on the emergence of the Reiki System, as well as many examples of the efficacy of Reiki Ryoho.this is a valuable tool, containing a new translation and explanation of Usui's admonitions (also known as the gokai, or five principles) as well as some of Emperor Meiji's poetry, which was known to be used by Usui-sensei as a teaching tool.Overall, practitioners of all styles and traditions of Reiki will find the heart and sincerity of this books traditional methods to enhance and complement their own.

Insight into Reiki Family
Enjoyed reading this very much. Presented a view into how the healing traditions changed his and so many other lives leading to his practice and beyond. It supports that we as family have the ability to continue sharing the wonderfulness which is Reiki. I also loved the family pictures that were shared. Made me wish I knew of these traditions far earlier in my life. Good addition to my Reiki teaching library.
