Pleased with this purchase
So far, so good. Have only used it twice, but here is my experience so far:- First of all, for those who are interested, the product is MADE IN CHINA.- Quality seems pretty decent. The power button and tap seem solid. It is not very heavy though - I was expecting it to be heavier. Will be easy to transport to parties.- Right out of the box, it was easy to set up. I filled it with water to see how many of my mugs could be filled when it was maxed out. I drained it through the tap and got about 20 regular size mugs out of it. Mine are just regular mugs, not the oversize ones and not the smaller dainty ones that usually come with your grandmother's china set. Based on the product description, I knew I was not going to get 30 with my mugs. I am happy with the 20 cups. Also, I had to tip it at the end to get a 3-4 of the remaining cups out of it. I wonder if this is a safety feature for the machine itself, so it does not run dry and burn out.- Filled the machine again to the top marker and made a test batch of coffee. I used the same amount of grinds that I would have used to make 20 mugs in my auto drip.- I came back after 40 minutes, and the coffee was ready (machine had switched to the "keep warm" setting). The coffee came out really good and exactly as I expected. I highly recommend doing the test batch to find your preferred strength.- One thing to note, on my machine the front water marker never changed from clear to dark color, even after the coffee was brewed and after I tapped a few cups.- The outside of the machine gets hot, but not dangerously hot. You would not burn yourself by touching it, but you wouldn't want to hold your hand on it either. The top lid gets much hotter, so do be careful there. It's very nice that the lid locks in place too.- The coffee comes out VERY hot, which is nice in my opinion. Just make sure the tap is out of kids reach.- After brewing, I poured myself 1 cup and then I turned the machine completely off and waited:* AFTER 30 MINUTES: coffee was steaming hot - basically the same as when the power was on* AFTER 60 MINUTES: still very hot - lots of steam coming off the coffee once it was in the mug* AFTER 90 MINUTES: still steaming! I think you could let it sit for 3 hours and still have reasonably hot coffee.- For the price, I am really happy with this purchase. Looking forward to using it when we entertain.- As others have mentioned, the only fault I can find is the hard-wired power cord. Wish it was detachable....

Beautiful and tasty coffee
I LOVE my new coffee urn! I've been using a 50 yr old West Bend one in harvest gold. This one is shiny and new and makes great coffee. My family all commented on how good it tasted. It was easy to clean, and the Shiney sides did not get smudged up, which I was afraid could happen. Lots of clearance under the sprout too. I used 1.5 cups of grounds for 30cups if water in a light to med roast. It took about 30 minutes to brew. There are no disadvantages that I can see.

This product Used To Be Made With A Faulty Heat Fuse; Not Anymore
I purchased this product, and after a few months the heat fuse went out, and it stopped working. I called their Customer Service department, and they quickly replaced the unit. After receiving the second unit, a few months later, the same thing happened again. This time I just threw the unit away. I tried regular coffee makers, top named regular coffee makers, but they simply didn’t brew the coffee hot enough, and even if the coffee was hot, the burners never kept it hot enough. A few months passed, and I decided to give the Nesco another try, because the coffee it makes is really delicious, and HOT!! This second unit I purchased has worked flawlessly for right at one year now, and I have NEVER once had one single bit of trouble from it. It certainly seems to me that the initial problem with the heat fuse has been corrected. After a year of use, my conclusion is that if I ever have a problem, I will buy another, because this really now is a great coffee percolator, and well worth the money. Kudos to Nesco for correcting what was wrong with this. This REALLY IS NOW A GREAT PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!!! I use it every single day, and my wife, who, at first was opposed to having this type of coffee maker out on her counter, loves it.

Overall great, minus the constant noise
This is a wonderful tea pot for holding a lot of water and keeping it warm. Easy to use with the handle and switch. The only issue is that it is constantly boiling itself to stay at 220F, it is noisy. It looks great, cleans easily, and does a great job. Better suited for a busier environment, it can be distracting if trying to have a full quiet time or record content and so on.

a good basic item that should last a long time, but I am disappointed...
I wanted to love this coffee urn, but it worked once and now it doesn't percolate. I am troubleshooting....

3-14-24 New Update to prior 1-29-14 and 8-30-23 Update's - OOP'S!
Another update regarding Nesco's customer service. I broke the handle on the spigot. it was all my fault. I called customer service and said I needed to buy a new spigot because I broke the handle. They asked me if just getting a handle would work. Of course I said yes! I didn't know that just the handle was an option. Now the job of replacing the whole spigot turned into just snapping on the new handle. Because I broke it, I did not expect any kind of guarantee and was willing to pay for a new handle, which was only $2.95. I was very satisfied with the phone process with Nesco customer service and thought I should post my experience. We still LOVE our "little Nesco!"Another Update; it's been about one full year and our Nesco is still going strong! The longer we have it, the more we love it! We are very happy we purchased our little Nesco, and wanted to send this update as our time-tested experience with this great coffee Urn.Since it's been 6 months since my original review, (which was accidentally deleted when I tried to add an update) I want to give another update. We use the the Nesco EVERY DAY, and it has been working flawlessly. We love our Nesco! Very glad we bought it.This is a correction to the type of filter that I found works in the Nesco.I use what's called a "Basket Filter" - NOT a number 4 filter. The filter that I use in this coffee maker is called a basket filter, for 8 to 12 cup coffee makers, and measures 2 1/2 X 3 1/4 inches.I wanted to clear this up right away.OK, now enjoy using your Nesco with THAT filter! LOL
