A Window into Claire's Background... and Perhaps Her Future?
Claymore Vol. 3 delves into the background of the titular member of the organization of monster-hunters called "Claymores". We see the background of how Clare met a Claymore, and, I'm guessing it will lead to how she became one eventually. It sounds like one of the extended story arcs I've heard about is coming up.What made me really like this volume was that with the ending of the previous arc, and the beginning of the next arc, with said flashback to Clare's past, it humanizes her. The mysterious and aloof warrior finally shows her heart and it makes her endearing. While I can see that Raki (her ordinary boy companion) is still obviously the main PoV character and audience surrogate, Clare is now much more interesting than she was before. Now, she no longer needs to be filtered through the lens of Raki's viewpoint.I can't think of much I didn't like about this story, except that I wish they had begun it in an official flashback method. Instead, we suddenly have a different era we quickly figure out is about a decade or two previously. It just felt disjointed as we left the current story, and suddenly we are at a different time period. That is about it for any criticisms that I have. This was a solid addition to the series.

Excellent book well worth reading.
This is volume three that picks up were volume two left off. The book basically deals with Clair's origins how she came to be a warrior of the organization and what her motivations are. It also introduces a major character named Teresa who ha a profound influence on Claire. A very entertaining volume that gives interesting background on the main character. Well worth reading for anima and comic book fans with engaging characters and enemies. The only issues might be that it is a violent book and some might not like reading from right to left instead of left to right which did not bother me. However it would be nice of there was an option to choose which direction you wanted to read from.

perhaps a slight pacing problem in the holy city, but I still consider this series to be technically perfect (so far).
I’m kinda waiting for this to misstep in some way but it just isn’t. It’s just such an easy read. Like I said the final confrontation with the yoma in the holy city drags a bit, but only just. Then we hard pivot into a flash back which feels hard at first until it’s brought back to echo thematically what’s occurred in present day.

The world starts to unfold a bit
This volume concludes Clare's adventures in Radona, and then we move to the "Theresa of the Faint Smile" arc. To avoid spoilers, I will say it that it takes a few scenes for one to realize that we had gone into a flashback in the second arc, and that we are getting a parallel story to Raki and Clare that clarifies things about Clare's past. The art is still consistently good.
