Suppose I'll comment on the "Unique" pieces as to why I chose this one as opposed to others.Closing: Slow & NiceOne of the main things I wanted. Annoying when you're not paying attention and "BAM!" Toilet seat just slams down at Mach Speed, shattering porcelain and scaring every fluffy critter in the nearby vicinity into running and hiding under your bed in fear as they cower over the sound of crackling thunder within the household - which clearly heralds the beginning of an attack by an Angered Olympian God.This one? Nice. Once it was bolted in it just kind of slowly lowers itself - just be wary of the aforementioned fluffy critters who may view it as an opportunity to explore the untold depths of the potty!Cleaning: Diet DependentAmazon asked me to rate this one. Uh... it's a toilet seat. Could be super easy or a nightmare to clean depending on a variety of factors that I feel I would be better off not detailing within this review. But if you're feeling spicy - feel free to go searching!Installation: Super simple.Had all the items and things needed to install. Hand tightening so didn't even need to worry about any tools (or possibility of a tool cracking your toilet!)Issue: Minor Break on ShippingOne of the hinges had snapped/come loose in shipping. But I could still just snap it on top - and they're just the little things that sit on top so you're not staring at a screw behind your seat so the extent that elicited from me was a shrug and an "Oh... Ok, anyways"

I needed to replace the seat on my American Standard Cadet round bowl toilet. Most of the reviews of toilet seats in the big box home centers had a lot of poor reviews. I saw this seat had a lot of very favorable reviews. I am glad I bought it. It is great. It feels very solid. The hinges seem very durable. It was easy to install but I did have one hiccup. The seat kept moving. I tightened the nuts. It moved again. Finally I realized that I did not press the hinge covers down all the way. I pressed down on them, a good click for each. The seat stayed in place when I tightened the nuts. A 5/8 combination wrench made the install a little easier. I am very satisfied with this seat . The soft close feature is nice. No loud dropped toilet seats in the middle of the night any more. I may order another to put on my other toilet.

Hello fellow review reader! I needed to replace a painted wooden seat that was chipping and I can’t believe how happy I am with this one. I was hesitant to get the plastic one bc I thought it may bend or move or be cheap garbage. Nope this one hasn’t moved laterally once since installed and doesn’t give or flatten when I use it.Plastic is going to be way easier to clean than the scuffed up and discolored painted wood one. It really makes the toilet sparkle which sounds ridiculous to even comment but I guess I didn’t realize the difference until now.Installation- easy. My not so handy boyfriend did on his own and said it was simple.Lid- best part is the ease of just putting the lid down a little and it slowly closes on its own. Silently. It’s lightweight to open and stays up.

I am convinced that this Mayfair toilet seat is better than a name brand equivalent. Read on to find out why. My quest for a replacement soft close toilet started when the original that came with our American Standard toilet broke. I picked up an American Standard replacement at the local big box store. Within days, the seat started to slide. So I looked on Amazon for a replacement but I didn’t want a brand name on the seat that didn’t match the toilet. When I asked Amazon Answers, the funny thing is that half the respondents said there was no brand logo whatsoever and the other half said it shows the Mayfair name. (Answer: it does show “Mayfair on the underside of the lid.)Why do I like this seat so much? I’ll explain by comparing it to the name brand seat that I returned: 1. It doesn’t slip. That’s because you use a wrench to tighten the plastic bolts to the bowl. Screws that require a screwdriver to tighten just don’t get the seat on tight enough. (And contrary to a few reviewers who complained that part of the bolts snap off, this is by design! It prevents you from over tightening the bolts to the porcelain.) 2. The seat is more substantial than the Am. Standard seat and the lid has a nicer curved contour. 3. This product has a very easy to use mechanism for removing the seat for deep cleaning. 4. The rubber feet on the bottom of the seat probably help to prevent the seat from moving.I learned a lesson from this shopping experience. Why was this Mayfair seat (a brand I had not heard of) so much better than the name brand product? The answer, I realized, is that people like me just buy the brand they know or the one that matches their toilet. A lesser known brand needs to actually compete on the merits of their product!
