Great product
Great value for the money. I disinfect and use it multiple time for hard sticks. Every medic should carry one. It’s small enough and light enough to easily fit in your pocket.

The Better Option
It is very effective in providing great options for IV establishment and also gives makes certain options appear that you didn't even know were there in the beginning. The BOA Band is MUCH better than a regular IV tourniquet and is much easier to place and remove with its quick release button in comparison to tying the regular tourniquet, and sometimes having to tie it again to get it right. The BOA Band will pinch the skin very easily if you aren't careful and ensure you lift it up a little more when connecting the ends of the band during placement. The BOA Band is also much tighter around the arm and patients often complain about it but I explain it'll only be temporary and it'll help establishing an IV quicker with less "fishing" around and they usually calm down about it. That being said, this band will also cause you to more easily blow a vein on the wrong person, so be aware that this isn't always the best option for every patient. I know there is a BOA XL, but on larger patients I have been placing this on the upper forearm and rolling it down for IV establishment in the hand/wrist and haven't had any issues with it, therefore I haven't had any necessity thus far for an XL band. Overall this has helped me very much and I highly recommend it.

Great concept
These are great bands for keeping in your personal IV kit for occasional use. I work full time EMS however and they tend to break or wear out with repeated use.

Should be labeled small
For 80% of people and use for the AC/forearm, the BOA XL is probably gonna be the appropriate choice. The people that I would put a small adult cuff on, are the same people that I would use the regular size BOA on. I’m a 6’0 tall guy and I put it on my wrist and it applied an intense level of pressure and really made my hand veins pop like crazy. Even on just my forearm, it’s an immense pressure and it hurts a decent bit but again makes my veins pop like crazy.

So much better than an elastic band.
The BOA works extremely well for what it was designed to do. I have used the BOA on multiple patients I plan to get the XL for patients that are too big for the regular sized BOA. My IV success rate has improved since I started using it and have found veins where the regular elastic band my department stocks I couldn't.

NOT AS SHOWN OR DESCRIBED
This item is a revolutionary concept for venipuncture. I was excited to receive this item but when it came it was drastically different than expected. These expectations came when you look at the picture, the inside space of the enclosed "BOA" in the picture shows enough space for 2x the diameter of the band to pass through. The product I received is 8 1/4" in length from the female end to the tip of the male end. The pictures uploaded you can compare for yourself. I placed it on my wife and she stated terrible pain and then asked her to place it on my self and it was extremely uncomfortable. Obviously I understand and have experience that in the field getting the IV started is the important thing but the average American person nowadays are overweight and I can guarantee that their arm is larger than mine and would result in even more pain than I experienced. Even as expected a military personnel arm is also larger due to muscularity. With the added distal rolling feature of this different product that would increase distal pressure and as a byproduct increase vein definition, presentation, and percentage of success allows for the ability for this product to require less constriction.I believe either this company started trying to skimp on material to save in cost, their order quality control failed, or their research and development failed to select an average length that fits american average arm size.Description failure: this listing fails to list length or any dimensions which also lends to the thought that their product isnt consistently produced with the same dimensions. Also this listing fails to state the product packaging most important statement: "For Single Use Only".

The best tourniquet
This is the best product of its class, I used one that a coworker had and it was simply amazing. I would recommend it to anyone in the EMS field. It is a bit uncomfortable for the patient, but in the end its all about getting the needed job done and patient care. This product is truly worth every penny when the situation calls for it. Better to have it and not need it than otherwise. I have not had any product difficulties or defects, great craftsmanship in this tourniquet and the fastest to apply.

Reliable. Works as advertised.
While this band is labelled as single use (otherwise 5 stars), I have decon'd and reused it at least a dozen times on difficult IVs, and it still works like new. It is easier and faster to use than a regular rubber band tourniquet. If you can't find a vein with this, you simply aren't going to find a vein with anything short of a fluoroscope. I reserve it for difficult "must have" IVs on yellow or red patients, as many complain that it 's too tight and pinches skin, especially when it is rolled from axillary to AC to push blood into the lower arm. Great tool to have on an ambulance.
