Affordable High Quality Recumbent Bike!
Long review, please read to the end of you're thinking about buying one of these bikes: So, just purchased this bike. I know it well as this one is replacing the same bike I purchased back in April 2013! The old one got heavily used over the past decade, in fact I flipped the Odometer 4 times! The bike was a big help to me as during that time I lost a total of 160lbs, the first 100lbs was by adjusting my diet alone after a while I plateaued, and it was recommended to me to add some cardio workouts to my life. I'm not into too going to the gym so I opted for at home equipment. This bike was what I selected and it really helped me to breakthrough and lose another 60lbs. I continued to use it on and off over the years. The old one still works, however the seat bracket cracked, seat is still on its just loose. Unfortunately, I gained back a good portion of the weight and being 10 years older in my late 50s now I've opted for weight loss surgery. That being said, I was advised once again to have some post surgery activities lined up, ones that I enjoy. I didn't give it a second thought, I hopped on Amazon, shopped some other brands and styles and settled on the Marcy ME709 for a second time! I mean, I used the crap out of the first one with no issues, the price was only slightly higher. So here I am 10 years later with a brand new one! It's virtually the same, they did upgrade the computer, it's easier to reset and the digits have a cool green glow now versus the LCD style the old one had. If you're on the fence buy this bike!!! It is super durable, great quality and very affordable, and not hard to assemble. Shout out to the Marcy Fitness folks, thank you for still making these available!

Perfect Exercise Bike on a Budget!
** EXCELLENT bike for the cost! I had been looking into buying an exercise bike for a couple of months, but I couldn't decide on which one! I saw that the Marcy Mag Cycle was only $125 on Amazon. I made sure to read as many reviews as I could because I thought the price was way too low. After reading reviews on Amazon and on other websites, I was confident that this bike was the right choice. I ordered it for $125, and the VERY NEXT DAY, the price went up to $200!!!! Now, it's $150. I bought it at the right time, lucky me! I have Amazon Prime, so I ordered it with the free 2-day shipping. It arrived at my house 2-3 weeks later, but earlier than the original expected delivery date. The packaging was fine, no problems. Unwrapping everything was a pain, but easily doable. Assembly: I am a 23 year old female, 120 pounds, and I was able to assemble this BY MYSELF. REPEAT: BY MYSELF. The directions recommend having 2 people assemble it, but I did it without a problem in 2 hours. I could have done it more quickly, BUT there was something wrong with one part - the computer wire was too short, so I had to literally manipulate this one part with a wrench. It's hard to explain without pictures, but let's just say whoever made that part did a horrible job. It made the assembly take 30 minutes longer than it should have. Despite all this, everything works fine. Exercise: -I started sweating after 10 minutes on Setting 2!!! One thing I was worried about when purchasing this bike was the level of resistance. I wondered if the resistance levels would be enough to give me a good workout. I couldn't believe how great the resistance on this bike is!!! At the gym, I would do Level 3-4, but on this bike, I break a sweat on Level 2... and then I change it to Level 3 when I want to work even harder. -This isn't the sturdiest bike ever... as in the front of the bike moves from side to side A BIT when I'm using it, but this may be because I'm using it on carpet. -This bike is SUPER SUPER QUIET. I watch TV while on it, and no one is disturbed or annoyed by that (except maybe by my panting). I LOOOOVE the lack of noise coming from the bike. "Computer:" -I keep it on the time setting. I don't trust the calories lost setting, so I never look at it. Distance is also a useful setting. -I noticed that when you stop pedaling, it takes 2-3 seconds for the clock to pause. I think it's very handy that the timer knows when to pause. People on the Bike: -My dad (5'9"), my mom (5'3"), and I (5'4") have no problem using this bike comfortably. My sister (5'2") cannot use it comfortably due to her height. She has to scoot forward in the seat, which makes it difficult to remain comfortable. -My dad tried Resistance 6 or 7 and quickly changed to Level 3. This shows you how awesome the resistance is. OVERALL THOUGHTS: -YES, I recommend this product to anyone on a budget. For less than $200, this is seriously a steal!! I hope this bike lasts a long time because I love it.

this is a pretty good piece of home exercise equipment
I am an experienced cyclist who rides for pleasure and for commuting every week on a real outdoor road bike. I also use indoor cycles at the gym and bought this to see if I could get some of my workouts at home. For the low price, this is a pretty good piece of home exercise equipment. The bike was reasonably simple to assemble in 40 minutes or so, it feels pretty solid when you sit on it, and the seat heights are adjustable enough to fit me as well as my 6'2" husband. The position of the seat almost directly overtop of the pedals is more ergonomic than some exercise bikes that put the pedals too far forward and strain the back. It is also completely silent. Easy to ride while watching netflix. ;) I can work up a good sweat at setting 6 in about 20 minutes, and keep it going for as long as I want. Note: If you are not a biker, you will think the seat is uncomfortable the first time you use it. If you use it regularly your muscles will get used to it, and you won't even feel it anymore. This is the case with all bike seats. The more you use, the less uncomfortable they feel. An incentive to keep up with it! 3 small complaints I have: 1) I'm 5'8" with long legs, a shorter torso, and long arms, and I find that the handlebars are way too low down for my liking. The low handles force you to bend forward farther than I want to, and I don't find the position natural from my experience on real road/racing bikes. You have to be careful not to round your lower back because of this constant bend. When I have been on the bike for more than 30 minutes, the position of the handlebars can sometimes become pretty annoying, and I find myself switching between all the hand positions as well as putting my hands on the tops of the handle ends in an attempt to elevate my torso a little (not designed for this). 2) The resistance of the pedals isn't the same all the way around the arc. I find that I have to push harder at some points around the circle the pedals make as they move, and if I keep pushing the same as I go around, other parts of the arc feel too easy and the pedal sort of slips forward until it hits the next hard part of the circle. It takes a bit of time to get used to this, but now that I am, I don't notice it much any more. Just still wish it was a smooth circle of even resistance. 3) The bike rocks a bit as you pedal. It's very slight, and you can change the footing a little by adjusting the end caps on the feet, but I still find that it's a teeny bit unsteady. On our wood floors this causes squeaking as the weight shifts minutely. It's not enough of a problem that I don't want to use the bike though, so overall still 4 stars. Might just depend on your floor.

Very easy installation.. very compact and feels solid in design.. perfect for an inhouse exercise bike. May not be a pro one,but suits basic exercise needs.

The Marcy recumbent exercise bike has turned out to be a really good buy. My partner and I, mainly him, put it together following the detailed instructions. It takes up surprisingly less room than we expected. It was easily adjustable to suit a tall 6 foot 3 inch person who needs to exercise without bearing body weight on sore knees. The screen is large and the digits are easy to read from the seat. Highly recommend this bike.

What really impressed me as I unboxed and assembled the bike - was just how well built it was - very solid. The instructions were okay but I suggest watching a You Tube video on assembling this bike. The computer monitor really did need some suggestions of how to insert the wiring. With the help of You Tube...it went quickly. Once on the bike - it felt sturdy....a few tweaks and bolt tightening removed any movement. The flywheel is particularly smooth and I felt no difference from much more expensive fitness centre bikes. The monitor is basic - but provides most of what you need to know during a workout. (time, calories, distance, speed etc.). There is no holder for a phone or tablet....but that I imagine could be added to the post at some point. The adjustment for leg length is manual and a bit stiff but not something you are doing continuously so not an issue. What IS important is you can be over 6 FT and be comfortable as well as just over 5 FT! Having just had hip surgery and unable yet to ride an upright bike....the Marcy really has permitted me to "get back in the saddle" and get some aerobic activity and leg muscle strengthening. There are 8 resistance levels which is enough for a decent workout. Those looking for a "professional" type bike will need to spend more but for anyone looking for a well constructed and quiet recumbent bike at home....the Marcy MC-709 should be more than adequate. Recumbent bike reviews on You Tube and online have recommended this as a good budget bike for several years now and for good reason. (I did not receive any payment for this review).
