National Lighting Mother and Child Floor Lamp with Adjustable Reading Light & Dimmer Switch - Intertwined Uplighter Floor Lamp Father and Son Lamp - Satin Chrome Finish - R7s/G9 Bulbs (Not Included)

This was purchased for my father in law to help with reading as he has a cataract and requires more light. It is a little fiddly to put together, but worth it. Both lights are very bright, but both can be controlled by seperate dimmers to a soft glow if needed. It is nice you can have a choice of which light you can use, independently or on together. My father in law tends to just use the top light as have sufficient brightness with it on. The light is situated behind his chair, with the controls at easy reach. It is very rare the main room light is on due to this light being bright enough, but can equally have a lovely glow when you wish to dim it. The silhouette is pleasant and the design of the twist in the stalk is unusual and eye pleasing. A must buy!

This is a great looking floor mounted lamp of a reasonable quality. Assembly instructions are however mince and should totally be ignored. That said in spite of what others have said it is relatively easy to assembly. Once unpacked you need to remove protective plastic caps on the top and bottom of the leg that has the wire going through. Screw the two legs to the control box and then to the base. The leg with the wire has the bolt and washer on it and for the other leg the bolt and washer are provided separately in an envelope together with a spanner. You you are connecting the two legs to the bottom of the base - a bit fiddly as you have to thread/push the cable a bit. Re the lights everything is fairly obvious possibly with the exception of the smaller light where you only need to remove two screw. A Phillips screwdriver is required.

I had not realised so much assembly was required. That was a frightening experience as I felt it would be so easy to damage during handling and it would be my responsibility, unclaimable. Quite a bit to do to make it right and the instructions not the clearest (but also not the worst). I am unsure whether a little plastic white "top hat" on the cable was travel or proper fitting - I could not assemble with it on the cable so took off. Heavy to handle and I needed a step stool to finish off the top bulb insertion and setting the glass in. Surprised it is glass and not acrylic or less fragile material. I also believed I had selected "satin chrome" but "antique brass" arrived and, checking order details that is correct. Whether my error or a technical glitch (see another issues below*), I don't know so be certain before pressing Buy that you have what you want and check the order details after purchase but before dispatched. Not upset as the brass effect is very subtle. An additional check after placing order if, as I did, you chose "Frequently bought together in order to have the bulbs, is to look at your order page as soon as purchase made. Amazon may have a faulty link as it substituted the bulb for adjustable lamp for the same as for the main lamp. Ordering on my phone, I did not see this and the wrong bulb arrived today*. As the three items are not from the same seller, it is difficult to report the error. Regarding the smaller lamp, the screws appear to be glued in (see Questions and other reviews). To remove the lens, I resorted to bending the tabs back (like those that secure the backs in photo frames) - not the ideal solution. In position, it does look good and gives a nice controllable light by dimmer switch. Only takes halogen bulbs, so do not touch with bare hands as skin oil can damage.

Extremely awkward to assemble, but that maybe because I’m wheelchair bound so couldn’t do some aspect without standing. Got round that by putting it on the sofa. But once assembled it’s wonderful. Extremely bright, very very sturdy, well worth the money. Be warned though It doesn’t come with Bulbs.

Nice looking lamp. H However I am sick of replacing bulbs. They only last a couple of weeks. As we only use the light for a couple of hours per evening I think there must be a fault. The lamp was not cheap so I am very disappointed indeed.

arrived on time. As others have said a little bit fiddly to put together and annoying the bulbs aren't sent with it - and ordered bulbs arrived later than light so not able to try it straight away. But great now working and dimmer lights are good
