Top footie game!
Up until a few months back I was a die-hard ProEvo fan, but after a few games of this at a friends, I bought it and was hooked. Got one of my other mates really into Fifa instead of ProEvo and decided to get it for him as a birthday present.

What were you expecting?
I bought Fifa 09 for the pure fact that I had Fifa 07 and although I still enjoyed playing that, I quite fancied updated teams, players, graphics etc. So I'm not disappointed, it has all those. I wasn't expecting a giant leap forward in realism, nor something to rival the looks of the PS3 Fifa versions. Therefore if you're expecting some ground-breaking, new era type game, don't get your hopes up, as I think if you are really looking for that then you should look to getting a PS3 or Xbox or whatever. This game is still enjoyable, with some good tricks still, which is really why everyone plays a one-star opposition, to show off their rainbow flicks right?Fifa 09 is fun for a now-and-then player; if you want amazing hours-on-end fun then maybe look to a next generation console for your answer.PS: Be A Pro mode, I think is average. As another reviewer states, you can't select a number for your player if it's already taken, so you have to be number 27 or something, and it can get a bit repetitive, not to mention harsh on the eyes when the screen widens to get all the action in. But it's ok - something a bit different to liven things up.

fifa madness
Although I'm not a fifa fan the child who wanted this is and he raves about the improvements in fluidity and control. It's now getting much better in game play in relation to PES without losing any of the presentational quality that FIFA is renowned for. Don't underestimate how important it is to have a full player and team roster, which PES lacks as they don't have the player license for every team.

Enjoyable but flawed...
Well, I first got into Fifa when 07 come and I have been playing that ever since. However it recently broke and I decided to take a step forward from 07 and decided to by this game. I was fairly optimistic, having played the PS3 version with my friend, and I knew it was not going to be as good as the PS3 version, but I still thought it was worth getting. I was a bit disappointed however when it arrived. I begun playing it and within an hour I was yet to find anything new or original about it. The graphics are depressingly similar to 07 and it is the same story with the commentary and the cut-scenes. Apart from a few tweaks and turns, I was at a loss to where the '350 new animations' had gone. In each team that wasn't in the premier league, there was around two players who looked like they belonged and then the rest all looked exactly the same!Aside from this I have still given the game a 4 star rating. Despite my primary opinions I began to enjoy the game. The actual gameplay had turned out quite well. I found it a lot harder than the other Fifa's, which I was pleased about because I was getting bored with being able to thrash Chelsea 5-0 with someone like Barnet. In other Fifa's, the play was very predictable, after a while you began to master the player so you knew which way to turn and it began to get tedious being able to get past the defense so easily, this is much better though, you don't know which way the game will turn and it comes out as an overall much more exciting game.Another point which attracted me was the 'Be a Pro' Setting where you can choose a player to be and then play with him on his own. It adds a new dynamic feel to the game and I think they have pulled it off very well, although it is almost impossible for your own team to score without you and by the end of the season you end up being basically the only scorer.Anyway, I think they could have done a lot more if they wanted, and the end result seems as though they have just spent 1 or 2 days tweaking the previous game to make it look slightly newer, as if they have just given up on it and concentrated solely on the PS3 version.
