Beach shells
The coloring book has arrived and I am pleased. I wanted to learn something about the shells along our beaches. There is a small amt. of info about each shell and there are small pictures of each shell showing the colors.

Not ridiculously ornate. Very pleased.
I like this coloring book, scenes are pretty. There is considerably large background area in most of the pictures, you might not love this if that bothers you. I have been experimenting with water with my watercolor pencils and markers on the backgrounds, with mixed results. But it's getting me to try new things, so that's always a good thing. Also cannot beat the price. Enjoy.

Pretty Seashells
Love seashells! This book has a colored index showing the 'real' color of the shells in the book. Think I'll make mine brighter and more colorful.

Lovely art, bought as gift, receiver was delighted.
Purchased as a gift for my mother, she loved it, and I did too, so I am going to order myself one. I am new to this adult coloring trend, but I find it very relaxing. The art is detailed and is really fun to color in.

shows how the shells are supposed to look--all beige or brown-tones and white
Like some of the other educational coloring books, this book provides pictures of how the shells are supposed to look. The sample pictures are somewhat small, but better than a few of the other such books. Although, I've seen some of the shells with a slightly peachier (less brown) version, they otherwise appear to be essentially accurate sample pictures. It doesn't include some of the beautiful spiked shells that I have had in my collection (obtained long ago before awareness that shells were a creature's home). Some of the other coloring books in the educational line are very nice, but this one is rather dull, unless you decide to be whimsical with it. All beige or brown-tones and white. The "Coral Reef" book by Dover (same publisher) is more colorful (in the sea and in sample pictures). Dover's "Snakes of the World" is also education and has some color variety.

Great Coloring Book
If you are an adult and like to color using pens, pastels or colored pencils and you like shells, this book is for you. I purchased it for my 79 year old mother who loves to color using my colored pencils. When she's not looking I'll sneak a picture out and do it in pen and ink and they look gorgeous!

ver nice
Very enjoyable. It's nice that both the common and scientific names are given. I've always found the dover books to be well worth the price.
