Great "daddy's done carrying a diaper bag" pack!
Not that I have anything against the diaper bag, but with the youngest more or less potty trained... yeah, yeah, I'll spare you.I'm a 6-foot, 200 pound guy, and this pack fits similar to the bike hydration packs I'm accustom to. It's compact, hugs the curve of my back, and the bottom sits high at the small of my back. That is to say, if you're looking for a rucksack or book bag style backpack, this one ain't it.The back pad takes it shape from a few layers of thick, wavy, "rubbery" but breathable material. It's not rigid, but it keeps anything I have stuffed inside from becoming an irritating pressure point.(within reason).Other than that, this pack is an open stuff sack. There's not much in organization, short of a couple of small pockets. My typical load doesn't vary much from spare clothes, a couple of medium weight jackets and hats, a snack and a drink or two, some sunglasses, and sunscreen. Then there's a compact camera, a phone, keys, you get the picture. The small size of the pack is desirable despite the limited load -- it keeps my list of take-alongs in check, it's about as inconspicuous as a backpack can get, and it's comfortable. I can always switch out to a larger pack when the situation calls for it.No problem recommending this pack -- as long as you're anticipating the size.

Worked great!
I purchased this backpack for a fishing trip to Florida. Since I was going to be primarily walking long distances up and down the beach casting spinners and Gulp baits, I needed something lightweight that could carry a couple of medium tackle boxes, terminal tackle, camera, etc., and this worked fantastic. It's lightweight, comfortable and most importantly it's breathable so it stayed cool in the FL sun. Take note of the dimensions of this pack though as it's not large.

Pleasantly Surprised At How Near Perfect It Is
I got this for urban and occasional outdoor hiking, but I use it everyday for work to bring along work clothes, a water bottle, and to carry small personal stuff like wallet, keys, coins, small towels and tissue paper. This bag is light! I can't even tell I have it on when it is empty. With the usual items mentioned above, I almost don't notice it when walking to/from work. The straps, as others have complained about were annoying until I realized that I can stuff the belt strap into the water bottle pockets and wind the chest strap into the little loop right above it (I don't know what that loop is actually for). With that strap issue resolved, I don't have anything else to really worry about. I don't have the water bottle falling out problem like the others. There is a weight imbalance when the bag is mostly empty and I only have one full water bottle in it. My compact umbrella did fall out twice before I realized that the side strap can help keep it in place. If I need to come up with one the only negative I can think of is that the bag is slightly bigger around the center (think hunchback of notre dame) so it takes a little Tetris skill to maximize a the space usage.I haven't tried out the water bladder slot yet and will update the review if I ever do. I took a chance with buying such a small backpack and glad I did because it works great for my needs.

I would rate this pack as a small lightweight hydration pack with the ablility to carry a sweatshirt or light rain jacket along
I would rate this pack as a small lightweight hydration pack with the abilility to carry a sweatshirt or light rain jacket along with. I am 5 '11", 200 lbs, so this review is from a bigger guy who spends alot of time outside, and really uses their equipment to the max in rocky-mountainous terrain. I have mixed feelings about giving a review for this pack, but will attempt to give it a fair personal opinion. I bought mine for a hydration pack that would be super light and give me some space for evening rains that frequent the Black Hills-Bighorn areas. Unfortunately Ospry manufactures most of their packs in Vietnam so you are not buying Made In America with this pack, as with almost every other brand. The main pocket zipper is of 'close to average' tooth size, but the small outer pocket zipper is a micro size tooth, and has to be opened and closed very carefully. Both are nylon toothed. The zipper pulls are very light too. So, no yanking, overloading pockets or heavy pulling please! The straps are 3/4 inches wide and look really small and wimpy, but considering the weight and size of the bag, they will do ok and they have all kinds of adjustment length, even for a guy like me. The end clips and straps are of good quality materials. Overall, the pack fits my frame quite well. There is no chance of fitting well over my quilted jacket, etc, and is made more for a tee shirt or sweatshirt.(Summer/warm weather use only for me) I think it would look great on a small to medium sized woman though. The bladder pocket will hold a 2L bottle with no problem, but it will reduce the interior use of the main pocket in an equal amount. You will still have room for a light jacket, some snacks, etc. The side pockets will easily hold a 16-20 oz. bottle of water, etc., but I wouldn't want to go much over that. There is a sewn anchor loop for the anchor which attaches this bag to a larger one. You can place a small to medium sized carabiner through this 'loop' which will hold you bottle in place. The side pockets will carry gloves, etc. with no problem. In summation, if you are careful with the zippers and don't beat the heck out this pack I think it will work fine for short day trips. The H2O bottle is inserted between the sweat pad and the pack itself so there is no problem there except there is NO hook, so you will have to improvise, I used a hard plastic clip attached to the top of the pad which might work for you too. I also would not recommend this bag for airline use if it is going through the baggage area. Carry on would work fine. If you beat the heck out of your equipment in rough conditions..don't buy this pack..if you are hiker who packs lightly and is careful and wants a small, very light day pack or hydration pack this should do the job just fine. At least you have the Ospry warranty, so save the clear plastic shipping bag, all the tags and your sales slip and you can return it for another one if it doesn't work for you. I originally gave this bag a 3 star rating, but after using it for a couple of days, finding a place to anchor the water bottles and realizing it fit quite well I raised the rating to 4 stars for use as a day bag for hikes that take several hours.
