Hero is there with his bff because of a yearly tradition they have since childhood. They bet on something and whoever wins gets to hold a "Lady Luck" coin they jointly bought when they were preteens. The coin is supposed to bring them luck for a year, to whomever wins it. Hero desperately wants to win it this year, because he had rough year and he is trying to cope with the losses he had.Heroine is there in Vegas for a "last hurrah" before she has to continue a tradition that is expect of her. She is going to let her hair down and live it up before she goes off to meet her expected future. The hero and heroine both meet across casino and are instantly attracted to each other. However, hero has one big flaw. He loves women and suspects his friend has set him up to fail for the last three years because of his problem with saving women in distress. So he is determined to fight the attraction, except I never saw any fighting. The minute they meet they are practically together the whole time.The couple was fun at first. They flirted with each other and quickly move on the attraction they have for each other. Hero keeps asking heroine to spend time with him. They go on different events while in Vegas and even meet up with hero's friend on some of these playful events. There is even a great sexual dance the heroine performs while in Vegas that is described. Drove hero crazy. Very steamy, fun scene.But it is not all fun and games. As hero and heroine get to know each other more, heroine realizes hero is coping through a lot of loss and she recognizes she has stronger feelings for him than she planned going into this "fling". She faces the fact she can't just give into tradition and makes decision to fight for their budding love.She leaves to face her problems, so she can be free to come back to the hero. Hero sees her missing and panics. He wants her back!!! Instead of going with his friend to participate in challenge to win back the "Lady Luck" coin he wants to go out to search for the heroine. But wait there is more!!!!!! He just got notice from his bride. Say what?!?!? Yes, he has an arranged marriage and never thought he would fall in love. It was supposed to be a fling but quickly escalated to more. He has never met his bride, since the arranged marriage is a tradition of the pack. So he goes to meet his bride and let her know that he is in love, but he also needs to find his run away love. What is a grizzly to do??!?!?!Why ask his bff to help him. He gets his friend to help him by going to find the heroine, while he goes to meet his bride and let her know he plans to follow his heart and not tradition. Well let me just say love will not be denied. The surprise climax reveals everything and reunites this sweet couple. So sweet:)This was sweet read with some emotion. It was safe read. Both H/h very sexual grizzlies that enjoy sex and are not afraid to ask for what they want. Led to some steamy scenes. I enjoyed it.

Copper King was the first book in the Takhini Shifters series by Vivian Arend.I don’t normally read this genre so my review will be short and sweet. Copper King was a short, fun and sexy read about bear shifters. It had a secretive side that unfolded as the story progressed and ultimately worked out well. Although not a genre I would read every day, it was a fun change and I enjoyed the shifting as well as the characters (Jim and Lilly) and the storyline. Book two focuses on Damon, a wolf shifter and Jim’s best friend, and one I definitely need to read as well.

For those that like sexy, shifter romance, with no hint of urban fantasy or other special powers, this novella could be just the thing for a cold winter’s night, or a hot summer’s day, depending on where you are in the world right now.Jim is a grizzly bear shifter, in Vegas with his best friend Damon, a wolf shifter. They have a few days off for rest and relaxation before they settle a bet that they have been doing yearly for a long time. When they were young, they pooled their money, and bought an ancient copper coin. Every year they do some kind of test, extreme sports etc. The winner gets to keep the supposedly lucky coin for the year. This year Jim is determined to win it back, but lady luck has other plans in store for him in the form of Lillie. Lillie has come to Vegas for a final fling. And the reason is a big secret.Lillie as a character was pretty great. She is sweet, and petite, all the while being a bear shifter. Shifters in Ms. Arend’s world building don’t think twice about sex with no strings. So Lillie’s more then ready for a fling to happen-her words, not mine. Jim is mega rich, a bear of a man(excuse the pun), and too busy to take time off, so when Damon tricks him into taking more time than is necessary for the bet, he’s not happy-that is until he catches sight of Lillie. I ended up really enjoying Jim’s character as well, even when he’s being Mr. Bossypants!It’s not necessary to have read any of the other Takhini world books to enjoy this novella. I have read several of the Takhini books, and as with them, I enjoyed this read as well. Most of them take place in the town of Whitehorse, in the Yukon Territory, so the setting of Vegas was different this time around, at least for most of it.If you don’t mind a short read for one of those times not conductive to diving into a whole novel, then this read is perfect, and I recommend it to adult readers. Well this was a really cute story about Lillie and Jim. Jim’s a grizzly shifter who hides his pain with work and women so a little trip with his best friend Damon should do the trick at least that’s what he’s told himself, that is until he sees a beautiful red headed shifter that could be the very thing that helps him get through his week. Lillie is just stopping to fulfil her bucket list before she has to honour an engagement made for her, but she didn’t count on meeting Jim. Will they be able to walk away after their time together?This was a nice quick read, great story and plot. Loved the characters, great banter, some hot sexy scenes, there was a bit of angst and some sadness but overall a cute, quick shifter read.

Wow, lovely story and such fun. Jim spots Lillie in a casino and decides she's for him for the night. His friend Damon also keeps an eye on her. Lillie seems shy and skittish so both Jim ( a bear shifter) and : Damon ( a wolf shifter) knows she has a secret that she is not disclosing. Lillie( also a bear shifter) is trying to go through her bucket list before ??? A surprise eventually ends this story so I won't disclose what happens, sufficient to say Lillie falls for Jim and visa versa. A great story.

By one of my favourite authors. Jim and Lillie meet at a casino. She's there to have a last fling before complying with a family commitment. Jim is fascinated by the woman with hair the same colour as his lucky copper coin. The ending was expected but it was still a decent story.

Had to give up after 1st chapter. Took to long to get into story

This was pure escapism and light hearted, the big secret made me think it was a terminal illness. So I became frustrated with the story
