Appears a quality product. Not made in China.
Snap out of the box. Box is nice but irrelevant for a tool that gets frequently used.

Do not buy
Took me an hour to get the back of the iron flat and the blade adjustment is very cheaply made, would not recommend, just buy quality and don't worry about having to buy again like me

Pretty good Plane
It took some work to get the blade sharp. The machining was a little ruff an needed to be adjusted to get the blade straight. Probably on par in this price range. After the tune-up it works good.

Nice tool
Nice little tool works like I expected to to. it was pretty sharp out of the box but a little work with a wet stone and a strap and now it’s slicing would like butter baby

Takes some time to setup
It takes a little while to sharpen and set up. This will NOT work well out of the box. (At least mine didn’t). That being said, with a little bit of elbow grease and about 3 hours I got it to work wonderfully. I’m very happy with this little block plane. NOTE: I am new at sharpening blades so someone who actually knows what they are doing could probably get it up and running a lot faster than me.

Bad apple?
I had bought a taytools #4 smoothing plane. Had to do a lot of work flattening the sole and honing the blade. Result was it works well but I can tell it won’t last more than a few years as components are on the cheaper side. Need to get a low angle jack plane and want to go at least mid range so decided to get the low angle block plane as it is mid range and try a bench dog tool as I was looking at their jack plane. The block plane arrived well packaged. Was not usable out of the box as the left side of the blade stuck out of mouth lower than the right side so cannot get a level cut. I then checked and the sole was not flat and neither was the iorn. I put a lot of work into flattening the sole and honing the iorn. This took longer than I expected, longer than the taytools process. Result was a flat sole, sharp iron but uneven cut as it did not fix the problem, blade still does not sit level. I am not able to fix the problem so will send it back for a replacement as I like the design and feel this is just a bad one which can happen in any manufacturing process. I will update this review once I hear from the company.UPDATE: seller provided a label for me to return item and provided a refund. I was happy with the way they handled my return request. I would order from them again.
