Just like OEM clearcoat
Just finished touching up some small scratches on my car with this 2K clearcoat. I was quoted $700 at the dealership for a deep scratch about 2" long! For about $70 total, I repaired and painted the scratch as well as the lower portion of my front bumper, that had been kerbed at one time and was a mess. This sprays on really well with a nice even fan, oriented vertically or horizontally by rotating the nozzle. It hardens within 30 mins or so to a high gloss shine. There's some orange peel effect, but no doubt that will mostly buff out with the final step of 1600 => 2000 grit wet sanding and cutting in with polishing compound. The original OEM paint has similar, but less pronounced, orange peel. The clearcoat has no color so if your base coat color matches, it still will after clear-coating with this product. I tried another 1K clearcoat on my first repair attempt and it turned my beautiful white paint yellow! Thankfully a rag and some lacquer thinner wiped it all away for another attempt. I wasn't sure if this 2-pack would be compatible with a lacquer-based (1K) base coat, but I did a test spray on an old sheet of steel and while there was some crinkling where I'd deliberately applied a really thick coat of base, the rest of the normal thickness paint wasn't affected. On the car itself, it worked great. Hopefully there's no long term issue with this - time will tell! I'll surely buy this clearcoat again next time I want an OEM finish paint job that's resistant to solvents. It seems expensive compared with other 1K clear coats, but not for its functionality, clarity and durability. Please beware: You've really got to wear a respirator when spraying this product. The fumes are toxic. I used "3M 07193 Paint Spray Resp. Large" from Amazon. Update: This morning, after an overnight wait at unheated garage temps,(approx 14 hours since application), I finished cutting back the clear coat. I found the 1500 grit too aggressive. 2000 grit worked just fine to remove any orange peel and blend in to the original clear coat. The clearcoat was still "soft" enough to not need anything coarser that 2000 grit. It will continue to cure over the next few days/weeks. Machine and hand buffing resulted in a near perfect gloss finish. See my uploaded photo of the finished job. VERY pleased with this product and will use again! Update: Sept 2015. Looks just as good as when I applied it after 1.5 years and hot TX sun. Very happy!

Good Product - Nice Gloss
Worked very well, nice high gloss. Tried Dupli-Color first and that did not give a gloss finish.

These people make the best paint and clear coat.I've ever seen in my life. And I have painted a lot of vehicles, motorcycles, boats, cars and trucks. You can't beat this paint. It goes on so smooth and the clear coat is fantastic. I would recommend this to everyone who wants to paint

Beautiful Finish
I purchased this to repaint the motor mounts on my 4th gen Camaro build to go along with my beautiful powdercoated tubular K-member and associated suspension parts. Pros: - The instructions are mostly easy to follow. As long as they are followed exactly, the product works very well - The clearcoat finish that I ended up with looks beautiful and seems pretty hard. I haven't actually put it in service yet so I don't know how well it will hold up in the environment of an engine bay. - One can was enough for complete coverage on the five individual motor mount parts that I was painting with multiple coats - Any mistakes can be wet sanded out with 800+ grit and recleared. Cons: - The instructions don't give a clear curing time. It says: "cures relatively quickly" but does not provide a metric to compare it to. I left the parts hanging in the ideal curing conditions indicated on the can for about 7 hours. I then put the parts on a towel to transport them and they still were not fully hard. The towel left an imprint on the back of my parts that needed to be sanded out and recleared. - The clear does not self-level very well. When covering the part, you must be very careful to put just the right amount of spray to get a consistent, smooth coat. Too much and it will run. Too little and it will leave a rough, bumpy coat. While I have listed some large cons, I am overall very satisfied with the product. My parts started out as a matte black and are now a very shiny and smooth gloss black. Also, the paint that I used would scratch off very easily while this clear has held up to being transported with other metal items so far. I would recommend leaving the parts to cure overnight before attempting to handle them. The clear definitely coats better if the part is laying flat on a surface and is cleared perpendicular to each surface being covered. Also, I would inspect the spray with a flashlight to ensure a consistent coat.

Professional Results
After one year with weekly automatic car washes, the finish looks as good as when freshly painted.

Better than regular clearcoat
This is much better than the regular clearcoat. I use this on 2010 Mercedes sprinter and could not see the difference in the original factory clearcoat and this clearcoat. I will definitely buy this again. The cost was a little higher than I expected, but the results are better than I expected.

Only use it wearing a premium mask outside and always stand up-wind.
Excellent hard coat. Warning: the first time I used it I was wearing a premium mask and sprayed in my garage with the door open. I got very ill. The next time I used it for a project I was outside standing upwind wearing the premium mask and still got a little ill. The catalyst doesn't begin to cure in the can for about 30 hours. So, you can apply a 2nd coat 24 hours later if you had to. Best to recoat 3 hours between coats.
